O'Halloran Off To Leeds

Villa have arranged a league one loan for Stephen O'Halloran who has joined Leeds United in a one-month loan deal.

The Republic of Ireland international failed to get a game whilst on loan at Southampton and Martin O'Neill expressed recently how keen he was for the defender to get some first team action.

Meanwhile former Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie has moved on loan from Sheffield United to Leicester City. The 30-year-old having obviously impressed greatly with the Blades!

Give him a run in the league? Bouma has not been at his best this season, I think he'd give it his all.

jonah, you're watching a different team to me. Bouma has been Mr Consistency all season - one of the first names on the team sheet and an unsung star.

Strange one considering that we've just sent a left back out on loan because he couldn't get into the first team.

At least he'll get onto the bench for us!!

Smaff, I am not sure if you are a season ticket holder or not, I am not, however I have been to several home games this season and never miss a televised game. But to me and I would bet many fans he not played at the level he did last season. Bouma was a big player for us last season but this year he has been average the most appaling aspect of his game is his distribution which has been nothing short of awful!!! I still think he should be first choice but if MON wants O'Halloran to get some proper first team action surely a couple of starts or sub appearances at home would be the best thing for him.

Bouma has been fantastic this season, he has had some great games against some very good players (SWP/Ronaldo/etc). I have no idea where the opinion of this comes from. This season has been his best by a million miles!

Why is there a picture of Norman Wisdom in a Villa shirt at the top of this article? :oP

Ksarge1, my opinion comes from watching Bouma getting the ball and 80% (not an exact figure but probably not wrong) time passing it to the other team, I thought other fans had noticed, perhaps not, all I will say on the subject is watch him carefully at the next couple games you see and count every pass that goes to the opposition from him. However like NRC he is the best option for his position at the moment, even if his distribution leaves a little to be desired!!

I agree that his Distribution is not very good, and actually he is much better and finds the player more often with his Right Foot (Watch). The rest of his game has been very good especially dealing with wingers - Ronaldo/SWP/Milner ......

Ksarge - i agree with young jonah. Bouma can't take anyone on at all, he along with mellberg actually limit us going forward and give us little or no overlap play with our wingers. I will say that his tracking back and tackling has been excellent but he so often wins the ball only to give it straight back in a misplaced six yard pass or a hopeless cross. He is not the standard of player we need if we are going to seriously push for CL - this season or next. We need two quality full backs. My opinion only. I am a season ticket holder.

I like bouma , he makes some good tackles and is very strong, like a pit bull! He is consistent and works ahrd, his distribution could be a lot better but if he worked on it and played simple, I think he is slowly improving that part of the game, and this limiting of attcaking options, how many goals we scored again? 3rd highest scorers...

Bouma is a great tackler. Never say die attitude, I LOVED it when he notched recently.

Interesting that Martin has offloaded all the dead wood very well (apart from Cahill IMHO, but he went to Bolton and not anyone above us)

kris - how many times has bouma given away possession? How many times have we scored from bouma's crossing? Our prolific scoring has little to do with bouma. Its more to do with the like of Young (free kicks, corners and crosses), Carew's steel and gabbi's pace. Thats a bit of a non argument.

I'm not a Stephen O'Halloran fan. He's never convinced me that he has what it takes. Hope he does the business at Leeds, and comes back and proves me wrong, but somehow I dont think that will happen.

Experience and games under the belt at a club competing for promotion cant do him any harm.
