Villa Rescue Brown From Slave Labour

The Mail on Sunday has linked us once again with Manchester United's Wes Brown.

According to the report Martin O'Neill would see the right back as a perfect replacement for Olof Mellberg who leaves for Juventus in the summer.

Wes has been offered what is tantamount to slave labour wages at Manchester United, a poultry £55 000 a week - I mean, come on, who could seriously live on such rubbish money? The 28-year-old is apparently holding out for around £80 000 a week and United have said the offer on the table is their final offer.

Brown is a free agent at the end of the season so despite smashing our wage structure, the paper argues we'd be able to better the United offer and pay him a signing on fee.

Interesting link and one that did surface in the January transfer window. He does have a terrible injury record mind you, although in recent years I think that has improved - what do you all think, good signing or mercenary player?

Seems to be caught up in the "Manure are offering huge wages, why don't i see if i can get some, even if i am only mediocre!!" Sorry Wes, but someone's been giving you bad advice if they reckon your worth £80,000 a week!! As for Villa signing him.....there must be better out there (and i don't mean Chimbonda, cos he's a noshbag as well!!) UTV
Kuffit
dont like him and my god his agent is optimistic, £55, 000 grand! turning that down I think its a fair valuation, probably over priced.
krisvilla
he has been offered 45,000, but he wats 55,000. hes nt worth it....decent defender but not going toe our first choice after sumer i dont think, so i wouldnt really care if you got him.
united4life
Erm I think we are forgetting.....we dont have right backs at Aston Villa, I think we should buy a center half or central midfielder and play that person at right back - yes that would be much better.
tylervilla
We are looking for someone to replace Berger on the treatment table so he may fit the bill.
pongo wearing
spurs will have him, they got woody, ledley and probably still got darren anderton on the treatment table
krisvilla
HAHAHA 80k at Villa even without Doug Ellis around and he's not a 20+ goal a season striker.
Villan444
He's the most over rated player ever! alog with michael carrick! I don't know how he is ahead of Mickah Richards in the starting line-up for England! BAD Signing if we get him!!
Chris
We need the odd winner in the ranks eg Kevin Richardson. Wes Brown might fit the bill, however the way Gardner played I would prefer him any day.

No one would argue that a specialist right full back isn't an absolute must, but I have to believe that there's considerably better than Wes Brown out there and available.

If its true that he's rejected Manchester United's offer, then the guy must be living on a different planet if he thinks that any other club out there will top anything that United tabled.
