Wayne Steps Up First Team Challenge

Wayne Routledge will be hoping to impress Martin O'Neill again tonight as the reserves take on Chelsea.

Routledge was in fine form for his reserves debut, when the table topping team slammed Derby County 6-0 earlier in the month.

He will no doubt be hoping he can again get on the scoresheet tonight when they travel to Brentford.

It has also been announced that the remaining four home league games for the reserves this season will be played at Villa Park and not Bescot.

This means as we see the season come to an end, hopefully as Champions of the Barclays Premier Reserve League (south), the Villa Park faithful we entertain Reading, Arsenal, Birmingham and Portsmouth.

Update:

The team for tonight is:

Parish, Lund, Baker, D.Bellon, Clark, O'Halloran, Salifou, Albrighton, Delfouneso, Bannan, Berger. Subs: Forrester, Bevan, Earls, Lichaj, Collins.

Nice to see Berger back in action! But looks like no Routledge.

So actually, this article and it's title are pretty useless haha. Perhaps this means some first team action for wayne?

We need all the bodies we can get for this last three months or so of the season, so come on Wayne, get yourself match fit, impress the boss-man, and force yourself into the match day squad.

Good news the reserves are going back to Villa Park though, will hopefully catch a few there.
The Fear
I think Wayne could be the signing of the winter!! I have a feeling he is going to be a revalation for us down the right. If it turns out well it will be very exciting stuff, Young down the left, Routledge and Gardner down the right, Carew and gabby through the middle. Pretty potent stuff....
gappy65
That is the beauty of the signing, he'll either be the signing of the winter, or nobody will care. It's easy.
Carlosio
Well he certainly has the initial incentive of earning himself an extension to his initial eighteen month deal. Carlosio sums up his situation perfectly, but at least its all down to the player.
