How do the papers know who Villa are going to bid for? According to last week's reports Villa will make a £9million bid for Peter Crouch. He was reportedly a target in January but Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez refused to sell anyone until the summer. Rumours suggest he'll let Harry Kewell, John Arne-Riise and Peter Crouch leave. Other reports say that Liverpool are about to open new contract talks for the England striker.

According to the News of the World Villa are still interested in Portuguese players Nelson and Jose Boswinga.

Vital Villa asked should Olof Mellberg remain in the starting 11? The majority, with 49% want to see Craig Gardner given the right-back spot as they voted 'Not sure but Gardner should be right-back' 35% disagreed saying Mellberg should still be played at right-back. Full results: Click Here

Graham Taylor seems full of praise for Randy Lerner and Martin O'Neill and he believes when you add the Academy into the mix, the future is definitely Claret and Blue. In the first of the two articles our former (two time) manager believes that Randy Lerner's biggest success to date is in allowing Martin O'Neill to just do the job his way and without any interference. Villa have confirmed that they have put their names down for the Inter Toto Cup as a means of European qualification should we fail to get automatic entry via a top six placings. Vital Villa had run a poll earlier in the week asking if we should enter it as another means of getting into Europe. 75% said yes.

Thought for the day: I went to the butchers the other day and I bet him 50 quid that he couldn't reach the meat off the top shelf. He said, 'No, the steaks are too high.'

rafa will be gone end of season, new manger new ideas. I hate FA cup w'end villa afre never getting past MAn utd in the obligatory third round tie, something needs to be done, if we had another route im sure we would of done well this year.

Hmm, cue more speculation about MON, *sigh*
Carlosio
I can see what your saying there Carlosio, but I really think if Liverpool came sniffing around Villa for MON, he wouldnt go. Who on earth would want to go to LFC? the owners are not to be trusted, the Liverpool supporters are unrealistic, as if they are going to win the league with just 2 possibly 3 very good players. Look at MON's situation, he has the best chairman in the top flight, one of the best academies, he has no meddling into team affairs, got a team full of young english prospects, Pace/Power/Passion. MON aint been at many teams cos his stuck with them, he's gonna be at villa for years and years, he wants to achieve something. He's building a team at Villa park, where as Liverpool want instant success, I would love it if Villa got to fouth spot, why would he move to a team not in the Champs league ;-). Too much potential at Villa to go to manage Liverpool, I personally think Mourinhio/Hiddink after Euro2008 will get the LFC job.
krisvilla
I agree, I don't think he'll go. Doesn't mean we wont be hearing about it for weeks when Benitez is finally put out of his misery. He had a past association with the job, and it means they'll be all over him. And Mourinho. It'll be just like the England thing again. Capello for Liverpool.
Carlosio
Blood y tabloids! They'll dine on it for ages, Capello has got it cushy, semi retirement on £6m a year, doubt he'd swap that for a lpool job. Clever bloke that Fabio get paid to watch a load of matches and manage about 7 on avrage a year. Don't think lpool could buy out his contract the new stadium will be missing quite a few seats as money will dried up. MON stays, he ruled himself out of the england job! I think he also likes teasing the Villa fans during the transfer window
krisvilla
Pride of place this week has to go to our Young Lions, who reached the semi-final stage of the F.A. Youth Cup following that fine victory up at Carlisle United. Great performance lads.

MON's going nowhere. I dont even give it a second thought anymore.
