Should Olof Mellberg Start?

Vital Villa asked, in a poll suggested by young_jonah,

Should Olof Mellberg remain in the starting 11?

The majority, with 49% want to see Craig Gardner given the right-back spot as they voted 'Not sure but Gardner should be right-back'

35% disagreed saying Mellberg should still be played at right-back.

10% said Mellberg should now be used as a sub and 4% that he should still be playing in the centre.

That left 2% saying as he is leaving for Juventus, he should now be dropped...... Bit harsh!

Our latest poll continues on the Mellberg theme and asks what fancy dress fans should wear for the last game of the season in his honour! Hey, don't shoot the messenger, I didn't think it up! LOL

Mellberg has already left he proved this with his inept 1st half performance, against Newcastle. He has stated that he can't wait to pull on a Juventus Shirt. Well let him wear one under his training top as he warms the bench until May. That brings me onto the current poll. Lets celebrate the player who are staying not those leaving. Thanks Mellberg for the time you where here, you got well paid for it.
still skeggy
Bit harsh!! he has a had an very good season and i for one think he deserves a good send off. He has served the club well and could have left on a number of ocassions, but chose to stay (could probably have got more money else where, so don't see that as a major factor). I will be raising a flagon of Ale, on the last day of the season, to say goodbye to the bearded one!! UTV
Kuffit
Great servant. Don't judge him on one poor games for goodness sake. The backbone of our team for seasons. If we had lost him earlier, it would have been disaterous, but now we have enough good centre backs to cope (why, why ,why did we sell Cahill). Keep him at right back in away games, but when against defensive minded teams at VP then Craig Gardner may be a better bet as he is more comfortable and creative with the ball. Best of luck at Juve for the 'Bearded One'. There's only one Mellberg.

He`ll always be a legend in my eyes,i`ve started growing a beard ready for his last game but no foregone conclusion that MON would play him just for sake of it but let`s not slag the Nordic warrior for a bad game ffs.

I'd start him at Reading. His pride will have been hurt at being pulled off at the break against the geordies, so he'll be raring to get back out there. He hasn't let us down to date, I'm certainly not going to write him off after one bad session.

On the new poll surely al of the first three options could be carried out at the same time. A Viking helmet, Swedish shirt (or maybe old Yellow Villa Shirt) AND a beard.
