Villa Youth Into Semi Final's

Villa youth beat Carlisle 2-0 last night to book a place in the semi-final's of the FA Youth Cup. Villa will face either Chelsea or Port Vale.

Harry Forrester and Barry Bannan (penalty) scored the winning goals at Brunton Park.

VILLA: Parish, Simmonds, Roome, Clarke, Baker, Clancy, Albrighton, Bannan, Collins, Delfouneso, Forrester. Subs: Bradley, Dau, Ricketts, Poyser, Grocott, Flanagan.

Tony McAndrew told the official site after the game that the lads had done him proud.

'I'm very happy and very proud. I thought the players were tremendous. We've probably played a little bit better before, but the commitment and the way they defended and put their bodies on the line was absolutely fantastic. We've been talking all week about starting the game properly and trying to put them under pressure right from the first whistle.' Adding 'it's a fantastic achievement to get through to the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup.'

Martin O'Neill showed his class by flying back from the training camp in Spain to watch the game.

A pretty convincing performance to by all accounts. Well done to Tony McAndrew and his Young Lions! Bring on Chelsea or Port Vale in the semi-final.

Good to see O'Neil on the bench showing his support. Hopefully we'll go all the way. Good Luck lads!

Could you have seen any other manager doing the same for a great bunch of lads.

Long may this continue. Was very impressed when I heard MON made his way back to watch the game.

They might even have the semi`s on Sky ?? What a touch for MON to come back from sun to sit on bench at Carlisle!!!! Couldn`t see many others doing that.
