Randy Lerner has stated that he isn't comfortable with the FA's idea to money spin a league match abroad.
The General has told fans on this site that Randy would listen to us, and we've ample proof of that so far. The General also specifically said that our thoughts on this ridiculous idea would be conveyed to Randy, and as ever the General has kept word.
It also appears that Randy was ahead of us on this matter as the Evening Mail are carrying quotes from last October attributed to our Chairman.
Apparently Lerner was asked whether he would entertain the idea of moving venues for games in the build up to the NFL game at Wembley and said:
'I wouldn't be comfortable with Villa versus Manchester United, for instance, being played in Cleveland or New York or Beijing.
'You go to Goodison or Villa Park or St James' and the environment is vital.
'You take two teams and don't have the home fans - and don't have what is brought by the fans who have travelled - then you're dismantling something, I find that concerning.
'The soul of English football is characterised by tradition.'
So far the club have not made any official comment, we have however heard Martin O'Neill's thoughts but he admitted that it would need careful consideration given the specific proposals.
Plenty have made their thoughts known, even Graham Taylor described the idea as madness saying 'It is stupid, it's crazy. It will kill our game,' and I for one certainly do not disagree with him.
I do find it funny though given the FA's and others comments and concerns that the influx of foreign owners, and the Americans could have a damaging effect on the game as they didn't share our tradition and so on, when the fact of the matter is - as usual - it's the FA that is systematically destroying the game we love in their never ending pursuit for an extra dollar!
Maybe the FA themselves could learn some tradition from Randy Lerner, he seems far more trraditional than they ever have!
