Mixed Injury News For Villa

A couple of players have managed to recover in time for Newcastle, however Gabby isn't one of them.

Curtis Davies and Stiliyan Petrov trained this morning after recovering from their injuries, but Gabby has been ruled out completely by Martin O'Neill.

Speaking on the official site he said:

'Curtis and Stiliyan trained today. Curtis is recovering well which is good news for us while Stiliyan is feeling no ill effects now.'

O'Neill added that Gabby was making good progress and should not be out for too long, but that Newcastle just comes to quick for him:

'Gabby won't play but he is making good progress.

'We don't have a game next week so we hope he'll be available as quickly as possible after this match.'

Carew and Harewood, or does Luke get a chance in his preferred position?

Was hoping Stan would be injured for this one. Don't see that anyone else will get a go no matter how shed his performances

I hope big marlon steps up to the task and grabs a goal tomorrow. Will it be his first start in the prem?
villabikes29

Typical Petrov! Could Routledge get some playing time, anyone know how fit he is?

Maybe Wayne could give Stiliyan another blow round the head, take him down for a couple more days. Go on Wayne, you have my blessing.
Carlosio
Wayne will play a part... Trust me!

Little and large up front - Maloney and Big JC

Forget Luke in my book. He's had PLENTY of chances and time to unleash the Hare!

Petrov may as well be on the pitch injured. He plays that way usually anyways. Might even be better.

Missing this game wont hurt Gabby. Plus of course it gives a.n. other the opportunity to step up to the plate and do the business. Not convinced with Shaun Maloney, so hopefully big Marlon will get the nod, maybe even a surprise recall for Luke? Tough game, we'll do well to get three points out of it.

glen have faith I think Villa will get at least one point from this game, even if it means a bore draw. Newcastle do I beleive have players returned from the African Nations. Keep the shackles on Martins if he is picked.

My faith has indeed been restored Col. I was suffering still from the post Fulham blues, thats my only defence for my negativity.
