Keep you hands off our Ridgewell Bruce

So Bruce is crying that he lost Upson then decides he will try and take our Ridgewell on loan as cover.

He can go and get stuffed.

Bruce said: 'We've got the loan window in eight days. We will have a look at that market. I've got Jaidi, Taylor, N'Gotty so it is not as if we are desperate for cover there but always in the back of your mind is what happens if we get an injury there?'

'Will I try and get Ridgewell on loan? I hate talking about other people's players but we will see. We will visit it again. We made an inquiry. We will see.'

So for a start he is not desperate but what if?..

For cover every club needs 4 centre halves in the squad and by my calculation we have four.

Olof Mellberg, Martin Laursen, Gary Cahill and Liam Ridgewell.

But he deems his need for four as cover is greater than ours...well NO!!

Never mind the fact he had the cheek to even ask a Villa player to play for the Blues and weaken us down to three centre halves.

Ridgewell one of our FA Youth cup winning team ( versus a young lad named Wayne Rooney) had a great season last season maturing to provide cover while Laursen got injured.He had a good start to this season and Cahill is currently playing along Olof giving both equal first team experience.

As we all know Ridgewell has a great spring, good composure on the ball and has a solid no frills attitude to defending,lest I forget another excellent graduate from our youth system.

Personally I see him as one half to our Adams & Keown tribute duet, as I see a distinct similarity in their play to the Arsenal legends.One gritty in your face the other with more height and a natural defenders instinct to avert danger.

So the thought of him wearing the blue of the scum is enough to turn your stomach. So in short Mr Bruce. Develop your own talent or look elsewhere as the thought of a future Villa Captain ever wearing the blue and white is enough to make William McGregor turn in his grave.
