Villa On The Box Again

On the Box again

Just back from the second half humiliation at Twickenham and the very long drive home amongst 40 odd drunken Welshmen , its safe to say I'm not in the best of moods.

In a week where O'Neill again raised questions about the clubs ability to buy decent quality, such a performance was the last thing I needed.

To add to my potential misery Villa are the last game on Sky this afternoon against a London side so anything can happen

Fulham have a decent manager now but the squad is so poor in quality and lacking in discipline its a game we should win, even without our prize attacking asset Young. Rumours abound that Barry, Carew, Petrov and Laursen all have niggling injuries but I'm sure all will play, its just a question then of how well.

Already 6 points adrift of the relegation zone, Fulham have won only 2. Arsenal managing 3 in their last home defeat, so expectations should be high for Villa fans.

In midfield they have one of their more prolific scorers in Dempsey (he's scored nearly as many as Laursen), aided by the excellent, on his day, Davies and a world beater in Danny Murphy, if he turns up, but not that much up front to frighten out two magicians.

There of course can only be one result, what can stop Villa, apart from 4 players worried about International call up, one suspension, 3-4 partly fit players, no quality on the bench, 1 defender thinking of Italy and of course its a televised match in London.

Results all around us in the league have gone our way, and with some frightening away matches to come, 3 points for the 4th spot visionaries, is a must. The 5 year planners will accept a draw of course, and the 'faithists' will accept any result, they believe in O'Neill.

Me I'd be amazed if we didn't win by 3 clear goals, but then there was no way Wales were going to come back from the slaughtering they took in the first half either. Sky bet has Villa at 11/10 on which says much and a win by 6 clear goals will put us 4th and really send a message.

Its possible of course. One thing I've learned in the time O'Neill has managed the team is that he makes anything possible, well apart from early or any signings in transfer windows, so I'll be in the armchair watching with bated breath.

But I promise you all now, if we put out a comparable performance to England's second half showing against a club side, Monday the mods had better get their red cards ready.

depressing arrogance by England yesterday, they thought they had won the game and stopped trying. We can't not pick up something today, simple as that. Hopefully the players we have will be suitably fired up to go back above Liverpool. I must admit having seen Defoe play yesterday, I'm convinced he would have shot us to 4th this season, but hey ho.
The Fear
to be fair Fear I think Defoe only went becuase of HArry Rednapp otherwise I think he would of stayed at Spurs.

One of the papers claim the Defoe deal is a loan deal.

5 clear goals not 6 would see us 4th on goals scored!!!
Adam Deuce
surely get the result first but a few more gols would help the GD but i'd take a 1-0 anyday of the week!

Totally. That's why I put 3 x exclamation marks. 0-1 OG off the keepers arse will do. But 0-5 would be nice!!! (see there go those eclamation marks again). UTV. Anyone else going up The Holte Pub for this? I've told my girlfriend I'm treating her to a Sunday lunch at the pub. She doesn't seem as excited as I'd hoped.

The Fear, I think you're right about Defoe but like you say that doesn't matter now. You've still got a real chance to qualify for the CL. Not being funny but have Villa done that before? I can't be bothered to look it up. lol. What does everyone think about your chances? I'd be optimistic If I were you.

U should stuff ****ham.

We've never qualified for the champion's league. Last time we qualified for europe was through intertoto and then we crashed out at the first round... Our chances of champions league rest not in ability but firmly in form and luck of injury.

Looks like I'm in for a busy day then!

We were so bad its not worth commenting Losing to a relegated side is a disgrace, where were the options Oh yes we don't buy 15 mill players, I forgot. what a ***** weekend

'48, pen a comment without sarcasm. You surely know it makes sense. You aint a kid, you have opinions and views that are well worth hearing, but this continual sarcastic approach gets both boring and old.
