I think that it was closer than the result suggests, especially in the first half. Carlisle Utd away in the last eight.

Another good result and only 3 losses all season for Tony McAndrews lads. He has consistently produced good attacking teams and along with Sid deserves more recognition in my opinion. A respectable 1270 turned up to VP to cheer them on after moving the game from Bodymoor.

Entertaining game, and even at half-time, despite a 2-0 lead, the game looked far from over. Ipswich were certainly no pushovers, but the result was sweet revenge for the 3-1 defeat we suffered in the same competition at Portman Road a couple of seasons or so back. Good Villa performance, decent crowd. Overall, a good night.

Little Barry Bannan. Only a little un, but what a scrapper. Good footballing brain too.
