Prince Boateng to be a Villan?

Breaking News suggests that Spurs have accepted a bid from Aston Villa for their midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng.

Martin O'Neill has thrown us all a curveball with the bid for a player who has failed to impress anyone at White Hart Lane and has played just 17 times in all competitions for Spurs since his £4.5million move from Hertha Berlin.

Boateng is the second spurs player seriously linked with a move to Villa Park, with Wayne Routledge believed to be undergoing a medical at Bodymoor Heath today.

From Wikipedia; A player with dual German-Ghanaian nationality, Boateng is a central midfielder. He has been described as having "skill and pace complemented by advanced tactical awareness and a powerful physique. He started his career with the youth club Reinickendorfer Füchse and signed for Spurs, after spending thirteen years at Hertha Berlin. Boateng was with Hertha from 1 July 1994 when he was just seven years old to 31 July 2007. After emerging from the youth team set-up, he played for the reserves for two seasons. He was twice sent off, but he won a call-up to the first team squad in the 2005-06 season. He made his debut against Eintracht Frankfurt, in round 2 of the 2005-06 Bundesliga season, being brought on at the start of the second half. He impressed during that game, and was on the fringe of the first team from then on, despite barely being 18 years old. Boateng continued his rise, and started his first Bundesliga game in the 2-2 draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach in round 14 of the Bundesliga season. Boateng identifies Pelé and Rivaldo as his role models, occasionally imitating the Brazilian duo with crowd-pleasing moments. [2] His love of playing to the gallery draws applause, but has also attracted a fair share of criticism too. The Germany Under 19 coach, Uli Stielike, said about him: "At senior level, Kevin will need to wean himself off the world of fantasy football". He has since cut down on those antics.

Mr O'Neill!
evoflash
Not seen him play but looks like he might be ok! Time will tell, interested to hear any sensible Spurs fans opinions.
The Fear
MON does like to bring in 2 players from 1 club at a time maybe to help them settle in. Marlon and Nige. 2 lots of 2 from Celtic. So maybe he will join Routledge in our reserves as there is noone else selling at the moment to calm the fans nerves.
Villan444
You really are a comedian Mr Fear... I mean fancy asking for such a thing. I am now off to get my ribs repaired.
Hoss The Villain
How many more spurs players can we get linked to before the end of the transfer window? Winning guess wins a lick of my eyeball.
steako
Nearly as good as Jenas...nuff said.
devonspur
Why Routledge?? and why Boateng???
kentvilla
Do we really need Spurs castoffs?
Obediah
Well if they were the number 1 choices for MON at the start of the transfer window I would lick more than your eyeball steako.
Hoss The Villain
Another (with Routledge) that's barely been seen in a Spurs shirt. That said when he's mostly look a little naive and disappointing despite having power, pace and touch. Could turn into a bargain, could be a Djemba-djemba. Too early to say...
Shelfish
well 'The Fear' he hasnt impressed but then hasnt had too much of a chance. He was bought in during the summer and Jol didnt really pick him, when Ramos came in he favoured him at the start (apparently he tried to sign him for Sevilla last season) but gradually he lost his place in the team even at a time when we had Zokora away in Africa. Tanio has come back in and done a good job so Boateng has been on the bench. When i have seen him hes looks flash and cocky but rarely is there any finish to it, he could improve when he settles down a bit but its a gamble by your boys no doubt.
jimmy-yid
Seriously though, have our scouts not got passports? There are quality players in Europe, yet we only seem to be looking at home.
steako
He's done again old MON! leaving it late but still managing to get a few signings at the last minute. Even if they do not walk straight into the starting 11 MON will get them playing well and keep the first 11 on the toes. Back up is always needed!
MattUTV
sorry boy as a spurs fan i really think your boss is making a mistake with these, definatly boateng. he adds nothing to a game except plenty of free kicks against you. routledge hasn't had a crack with us but i think he maybe good cover for young and thats it.
nathspur
You dont want to take Darren Bent off our hands too do you? Seriously, I think you will do well with Routeledge but not sure about Boateng. Never really lived up to the hype, but who knows. A different system and manager may be what he needs. Good luck
Hardy Les
he must be better than Petrov though.
wislor
You have to take into account that spurs aren't very good and neither their current or last manager is as good as ours, especially when it comes to making players play well. I'll take 'em both.
PTP
Is he any better than Salifou? Who knows, neither of them can get a game.
Hoss The Villain
Well if that isn't an indication that Salifou is off in the summer then i don't know what is. Feel sorry for him if it's true about how impressive he's been for the reserves.
nottinghamvillain
As a Spurs fan i am very disappointed for the way Routledge's career at Spurs has gone. I first saw him two seasons before we signed him playing for Crystal Palace and thought what agreat player he was, putting him on a wish list for Spurs in the future. The summer he signed for us he played really well in all the preseason friendlies and looked the real deal. Then first or second game in he got injured (at Portsmouth i believe) and a certain unknown Aaron Lennon got a start......he never looked back. Unfortunately, Routledge looked pee'd off from that point on and never really cut it on loan either. If he gets a real new start and gets his career back on track, IMO you will have a great player, on form he would challenge for an England RW shirt. I wish him all the best, wherever he goes.
Scott Spur
PTP, bless.

forget middlesvilla...
olafthegreat
KPB is an enigma. I thought when Ramos came in, given his previous interest in him, he would flourish but hasn't. He seems to give away a horrendous amount of fouls and all of them in really good areas for the opposition. He also runs around like a nutter with no real direction. Maybe MON will get the best out of him. Routeledge, he seems to have lost his mojo. Even when he went to Fulham on loan he couldn't get a game. I feel he is yet to prove he is a Prem class player.
Mozspur
I rate him, most players need time to bed in to the prem so he hasn't really been given the chance.
*Holte*End*Star*
Nice comment Scott Spur. Thanks
Gordonsleftboot
You sound like my nan
PTP
What the hell is comolli doing with our money buying players like KPB only for him to be shifted out months later, has this guy got his head up his arse?
spurs
As a Spurs fan I would say Routledge has the quality to be a top player but lacks confidence. O'Neill could be just the right manager for him. KPB looks ok but needs to calm down, some of his challenges are frightening. Not convinced we will sell KPB but I give up trying to guess what will happen at our place. I mean Woodgate and King the 2 most injury plagued centre backs in England will be a great partnership- in the treatment room.
sideshow
spurs - well he did buy Bent for £17m only to be unable to sell him at half price 5 months later. Says it all really.
The Usual Suspect
Steako - yes exactly, we can buy foreigners ya know, that danish chap has been pretty good in our defence this season. As for these being spurs cast offs - Letf flip that shall we? - if all these guys would have played for them and not been dropped, maybe Spuds wouldnt be in the bottom half of the table? just trying to find some kind of positive out of this disasterous window.
The Ellk
routledge will be a cracking addition to your team when given a run in the squad he will be one of the top wingers in prem

The Usual Suspect - Yet we made players like Carrick (18 million), Lennon 1 million - now worth a lot more, Berbatov 10.9 million, now worth more than double that, Chimbonda 4.5million, now worth slightly more than that. Just like what villa have done with Agbonlahor and Young. So please..try to take a perspective on both sides.
dazspurs
daz, Berba OK, Lennon is almost there and admittedly worth well over 1m but you skanked Fergie for Carrick you have destroyed robinson's confidence through your inability to defend. What happened to that fat b*stad Andy Reid, and as for Dawson, only God knows why anyone rates him down at the lane.
Villan444
Looked totally lost when we played Tottenham. Seemed a very 'strange' story when it hit. Had read earlier in the week that Newcastle were interested in him, but that Spurs wanted to recoup their money spent on the guy just this past summer, which had cooled their interest.
glensider
German footballer of the year two years ago I've just been told. Has struggled at WHL though.
