Routledge Inbound?

Various news networks are reporting that Spurs midfielder Wayne Routledge is having a medical at Bodymoor Heath today.

It could be very much said that the 23-year old winger is 'out of favour' at Spurs, having played just 5 times for the London club since his 2million move.

Routledge has spent time on loan at Premiership sides Portsmouth and Fulham, neither of which took up the chance to sign the former England U-21 on a permanent contract.

Another Knight/Davies style gamble?
Hello europe!
Would be a welcome addition I reckon. More please ?
It's a signing
have him, he's dog *****
Has he ever really been given a chance?
To be fair as a yid the boy never got given a chance. He's quick and has a few tricks and on form is a good crosser of the ball. Was ahead of Lennon pre-injury, Lennon took the chance. Will do well with your fast breaking style.
All banter aside ( and i know there has been a fair bit of it) as said above lennon has kept him out....he played for us pre season in a tournament in south africa and played very well....lots of pace and good crosser....think it will be a good signing, even more so when you consider the fee....if lennon had never turned up, routledge would be our right winger
Always liked Routledge, just a shame he wasn't really given a chance. He's much better than his 5 games in 3 years for Spurs would imply.
A player never really given a chance at Spurs... Good luck, mate.
Cheers ajm, I think he could be a good bargain signing myself
Give him a chance and good luck to him.
until mon rules out that we are signing him, you know what our MON is like
MON should get the best out of Routledge if he signs.
I've not seen any mention of a fee. Does anybody know anything or should i ring up Randy and ask him?
Martin O'Neill will also try to sign Leicester right-back Richard Stearman and Crystal Palace striker Sean Scannell for the Midlands club. (Daily Mirror. Who got it off tarzansbrother) Excelsior!
I have seen 1.5 million mentioned and also initially as a loan with that fee payable if we take him at the end of the season but who knows what to believe.
pongo wearing
An excellent bargain, he lost his way at Spurs and was unlucky to break his foot within the 1st half of his debut. Had he not, Lennon would have played in the reserves and they'd now by competing with each other for the right flank position.
Worth a gamble I reckon
Phoned randy in the end, he texted me back, it seems he's busy. "jst sgnd plyr. hvng med. cu l8r." sounds like a done deal.
Sounds encouraging listening to Spurs fans opinions. Not the wide player signing I was hoping for, BUT will certainly give us more options.
its not even a gamble at 1.5 million, in this day and age!
Hope it works out, for us and him. That is, of course, assuming he signs.
What!!!?? You mean we might sign someone?! No way! I don't believe it. ;)
Adam Deuce
With his pace on the right and young on the left. as long as his attitude is right and he can cross the ball I think we will be quids in with this one, and an absolute bargain at the price. OK, so maybe he's not Young but then very few teams manage absolute top notch players on both wings and the boy has potential and time on his side. He has to be better than playing a centre mid on the right doesn't he?
Villain Of The North
Sorry, I misread the price, I was looking at the price that he moved to Spurs for . Doh!
Villain Of The North
Considering the numbers in the squad if he has 2 legs, 2 arms and a head then he qualifies.
can he play right back as well?
MON has left a message on my answer phone seeing if I had ever played RB???? He should already know I am left footed.
VOTN, i doubt it'll be much more than that. After all, the lad hasn't played since he went there.
If he has never played recently, where have MON's scouts seen him in action? May have been good before injury as the Spuzzers have said on here but sounds like a massive gamble to me. Seems like we will have another player on the bench who never gets a game and is a panic buy because there is nothing else around. Still think that there will be links to more Yidds before the window closes.
At the prices being thrown around, i.e. 2m, how can people say its a gamble. I would much rather have him on the right side than keep playing players out of position.
I think this guy has the potential to be class for us!! He's quick, skillful and can cross a ball...what more can we ask for!! This coould turn out to be the bargain of the season in my eyes. He was very good for Palace in the premiership and was scouted by a number of large clubs at the time. He chose Spurs, had it not been for Lennon he would have played every game for them. If he's given a good run in the team he could even displace Lennon/SWP in the England team now Capello is there. Think everyone should give him a chance and see if he can deliver for Villa before ripping into him! Also it means we now have a natural RW rather than a makeshift one in Petrov or Gardner which makes us naturally more balanced and means we attack on both sides of the pitch, which in turn will mean teams can't block out or creativity by putting 2 men on Young.
We've just had a bid accepted for Kevin Prince Boatang from Spurs for 3.5m according to Setanta...anybody else got any news??
I knew it. And half an hour later.... There is some mischeif going on about Spuz players or agents winding us up with Yidd rejects. Perhaps they are the only ones selling at the moment or perhaps they have all the talented players. Maybe Commolli (or whatever his name) is will be linked next.
Aston Villa have had a bid accepted by Tottenham for Kevin-Prince Boateng. On SSN as well.
Any quotes anywhere?
oooh i like routledge...i recall him tearing us apart at palace some years ago... also...he can come in if young is on the right allowing gabby his preferred role in the centre.... also....the dimension it gives to our game has attack all over it......and i love playing wide.... it sends a good message out and if we are going to play in europe....we'll need players with ability...and wayne has it no doubt.....he was'nt tried at Spurs....i think he could become another ashley young for us
I'll give you a quote PTP. 'to be or not to be, that is the question' Will that do?
The Fear
agree reza, routledge on the right, young on the right, could be a great set up.
The Fear
Jon you mean Young on the left, right?
Hoss The Villain
Highly rated a couple of years back. A good acquisition if we can land him.
18 month contract too. Obviously gives him the opportunity to prove to MON that he deserves a longer deal. Seems we've picked up the remainder of his Tottenham deal, and placed the ball in his court. I welcome the move.
