Carson Told Where to Go

Carson Told Where to Go

Villa keeper Scott Carson admits it wasn’t all his own work when he saved Matt Derbyshire’s 23rd minute spot kick.

In an interview with official website avfc.co.uk Carson explained that goalkeeping coach Seamus McDonagh had been doing his homework, and gave a useful insight into the kind of advice the shot stopper gets before games:

'I was delighted with the penalty save. Seamus told me before game that Derbyshire's last penalty was right and low,' said Carson who then went on to explain he had engaged in a bit of mind games with his former England U-21 counterpart:

“But I had a word in Matt's ear before the penalty and told him I remembered where he put his spot-kicks in the under-21 championships in the summer.”

Carson went on to perform decently in Villa’s 1-1 draw with Blackburn and will be hoping that he impressed the watching England boss Fabio Capello, who must be a connoisseur of Chicken Balti pies as it was his second appearance at the catering award winning club this month!

Did we win an award for our balti pies? You know I had one at the Sheff Wed Derby Fa cup replay and it just wasn't up to it. A balti pie is better than no balti pie but when you get one at the Villa its just got a special feel to it

Thought Carson had his best game for a while, penalty save apart. Wonder how he figures in MON's thinking?
