Juve Table Melly Offer

Juve Table Melly Offer

Martin O'Neill has said that the future of Olof Mellberg wil be sorted out after the Blackburn match.

Speaking to journalists, our manager admitted that an official bid had been lodged with the club, but that no decision on whether to accept it or not has been made.

'Olof is keeping me in the picture. I have absolute trust in him. I know what is happening. After the weekend we will have a look at some things.

'Juventus have put an offer to us although I haven't seen it yet. I have been told about it.

'That is a natural thing for them to do if they want to sign someone and want to have him in January instead of the end of the season.

'If Olof chooses to go to Juventus in the summer, and is in the form he has shown me so far when playing this season, then great.

'I'll let you know what is happening on Monday. I want to get the Blackburn game, which is really important, out of the way.

'I'll have a better picture on Monday. He is available to play on Saturday.'

I suppose a great indication will be whether Mellberg plays against Blackburn or not.

According to reports it's believed the offer is a token gesture really, around the £500,000 mark.

He will always be a favourite of mine, he played on through some tough times at VP. I wish he was staying for the next couple of seasons to see the best of Villa.

Best of luck to Olly. Great Villa servant. He has consistently been our best defender over the past seven years (until the Great Dane regained fitness) If he does go in January (for nearer £1m I hope) we MUST MUST MUST sign a right back. Alan Hutton with Luke going the other way, maybe?

Tell the old lady to stick the 500k up her arse...we are not going to get anyone in to cover melly for the second half of the season at RB, and a higher place up the league is worth more than 500k.If he signs for them he see's the season out and help's us into Europe and we can go down to Ikea, get some dodgy biscuits and Dime bars and we will have a party for him in the Holte end with the lap of honour.UTV

Q.What's the worst part about being a Villa Fan? A. The transfer window...I was all calm and collected at the start of the month, but my God this is bloody painful. The way players are being linked with LEAVING the club, I wonder if John Robertson fancies playing right wing...come on Martin, with bloody talksport everytime I am in the car and Newsnow when I am in front of a PC, this is bloody torture. It's now or never, fortune favours the brave.UTV

If O'Neill lets him go without having signed a quality RB. it will be a bigger mistake than the team he picked agianst Leicester in the Carling cup.

Because it`s Olof Mellberg and he has never let us down, I would ask him to stay until the summer, but if Olof would prefer to go now, I`d let him. Good luck to a good Pro.

He's going in Jan, this is why we are turning down very good money for Gary Cahill.

Most people don't begrudge Olof his move, genuine loyalty and ambition finally rewarded with a big move, good luck to him. The money isn't important what matters is if they (Juve)push him into causing a ruck over leaving now because thay won't want him come June! I think it would be easier and fairer to let him go with our best wishes and move on, he's not the future of Villa but Cahill could be.

He's NOT going in Jaunary. Of that I'm fairly sure. If he was then surely he would have come to the The Holte today at the end. He didn't. He was walking off towards the tunnel. He turned and clapped when his name was sung. I think he'll be with us at least until the end of the season. There's only one Mellberg. Mellberg...

Seems as if Monday is D-Day, when an announcement will be made by MON. Good luck Olof. He's never let us down, and deserves his final pay-day in the sun, if indeed Turin is his destination. If he moves on before deadline day, I just hope that MON brings in a quality specialist right full back. We've been chancing our luck since the summer, but without Olof we could really get found out. He (Olof) owes us nothing.
