Barry's Blackburn Race

Barry's Blackburn Race

Villa's medical staff are working overtime to try and get Barry back and fit for the Blackburn game on Saturday.

Unfortunately the article on the official site doesn't go into any great deal about where he is now and what his chances are of being fit, but we can live in hope.

Speaking on the OS, O'Neill sid:

'The captain has been fantastic.

'Gareth was a major, massive loss to us. He's had a wonderful season and has played really great, but sometimes this happens.

'And for us to go there without him speaks volumes for the rest of the squad.

'It's hard to say how long he will be out for. When he first did it, he started to feel better and it wasn't so bad after the first day.

'But since then, it's been slow. We'll see how he is, and listen, he's got to be really sore to miss a game.

'We're doing everything possible to try to get him fit.'

Need him back badly. Without him our passing was awful at Anfield. Only spirit and determination got us a result, certainly not great football! Not complaining, though.

MON, this is why you need to buy some quality players to bolster the squad... so we don't rely on one!

Tough game Blackburn. For thirty minutes at Ewood Park they played us off the park. They'll be well up for revenge.

To opr.....how 'bout no, you crazy dutch b*****d. With Gareth, it'll be tough against Blackburn, but it's not like we haven't done it before. We're starting to get into a habit of getting results when we don't play well...what is it that people say about top teams.

We've, as we all know only too well, been very lucky on the injury front this season, a key component in our successful campaign to date. While we musn't fall into the trap of rushing Gareth back, its fairly obvious that he's a very big player for us, and his leadership and ability will be sadly missed if he's out for three or four games.
