Barry Injury Scare For Villa

Captain Gareth Barry could be facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after injuring his hip during training yesterday.

He had to be put on the back of a buggy in the end to transport him so he could be attended to properly by the clubs medical staff.

He had undergone a scan today to determine the full extent of the injury, but as yet I'm yet to see any updates.

Slightly better news however for others, as O'Neill has admitted that Mellberg is not back in training yet, but he is feeling better. There is an outside chance he will be ok for the Liverpool match.

And Berger has started training again, although no trees are being pulled up at the moment.

Hopefully it's nothing too serious and he will be fit for the liverpool game.

Breaking news............... Villa have 2 injuries to Barry and Mellberg and the squad is stretched to the limit. MON said at a press conference, 'If only we were in the transfer window I could do something about as we've got the smallest squad in the Premiership!'

Has Berger reached over 5mph yet this season anyway.

Berger back in training??....I didnt even know he was still alive
tylervilla
Berger showed brief glimpses of what he could to do at the end of last season and rightly was offered a new contract but since then in the times ive seen him hes been off the pace and generally poor.

Not good not good at all he's a class player who you can not afford to have missing from your line up for too long. Hope it is not as serious as first thought of

It will be interesting to see Petrov in his best role next to reo coker. Gardner on the right?

Don't worry. MoN is the luckiest manager in the League - everything will work out ok!!!

I love barry, but i've wanted to see reo-coker and petrov in the middle to see how they work together for ages. UTV

We'd miss Gareth, no denying that, so hopefully any absence would be an absolute minimum. The opportunity would be there though for someone else to step up to the plate and see us through. Time for someone to stand up and be counted.

Whose this ozanne park rangers dude? A closet Villan, or just a right royal pain?
glensider
It'll be something like Ashley, Petrov, Okey Kokey, Gabby with Carew and Maloney or Moore up front, and with Gardener at RB. Hmmm, maybe this is what we need for MON to really step up (i'm not complaining about transfer activity, but now it's a real necessity to get people in, surely)
Carlosio
Moustapha Salifou replacing Barry and keeping his position in the team for the rest of the season.
