Kevin Doyle Would Jump At Move

Kevin Doyle Would Jump At Move

Oh dear, I must admit - as good as it is to see players saying they would like to join Villa - I do hate it when players contracted at another club talk up a move. It is so unfair on the fans of the club these players are at.

What am I on about now you ask? Kevin Doyle. The Rep of Ireland and Reading striker has been linked with both Aston Villa and Chelsea this week and has been quoted as saying he would jump at the chance of joining a bigger club. Nice for us, awful for the Royals fans.

The 24-year-old was plucked from obscurity, well Cork City to be exact, in 2005 and has gone on to become a regular for Reading with six goals this season.

He said: 'If one of the big clubs wanted to sign me I would want to go for it. People at Cork City were telling me 'Why do you want to go to Reading, you are not going to play' but if I had listened to comments like that I wouldn't ever have furthered my career. You might end up sitting on the bench but if you believe in yourself it is not a case of going to a bigger club just to pick up money. You want to go as far as you can. If you are on the bench for a year or two then you would look to go back down and get a club where you are going to play, but you would have to take that opportunity when it comes in the first place. If you don't you are never going to know how far you can go.'

Must admit, I'd rather Kitson anyway, he has a one in two goal ratio!

He will be on his way to VP after the game on Saturday!!!! And I said that in a "I know for sure way".... Is it a possibility he thought he was going somewhere, but Chelski have just signed Anelka and we are strongly linked with Defoe... he has decided to become vocal..... just a thought from a cynic

I think Doyle was talking about being linked to Chelsea not us when he said that,he'd be a very good signing I think.

Yes, he responded with those comments after being quizzed on Sky Sports News about interest from Chelsea. A direct question, which he answered truthfully, if a little naively.

NONONON! he is no where near as good as defoe! Defoe is top draw and given a first team place in the premiership he would be simply brilliant! Doesn't any one agree that doyle isn't good enough!

doyle is technically very good and has a better attitude than kitson - i still cant believe what he said about the fa cup.

i would rather have doyle than defoe because he works harder although in an ideal world we could have both

Not mad keen on Doyle, cant see one aspect of his game which is exceptional (e.g. speed or strength or heading). I agree with Fear, rather have Kitson.
