Jermain Defoe Link Hots Up

Rumours are abound that Jermain Defoe's girlfriend has been viewing properties in the Stratford Upon Avon district of Worcestershire. If true then surely that shows that the Spurs striker could well be on his way to Villa Park? I must add this is only a rumour, as mentioned on our rumour thread but you never know. Another there says that the deal is all but done bar the shouting and personal terms being agreed. Again, really not sure about that, and especially now it appears there is a hold up over a dispute between Defoe and his agent.

According to today's Express and Star, there is an argument between the agent he is contracted to (Skye Andrew) and the agency Defoe says he is with (SEN)

The paper say 'The dispute is believed to centre around a difference of opinion between the player and agent on Defoe’s future.' and claim that no one else can negotiate on the players behalf until 2009.

Villa have refused to comment on reports that we have bid £7million for him.

Defoe, what do you reckon? Given the chances I think he could be lethal for us and surely he has a massive point to prove if he does move? Especially as we have a new England boss who he will want to impress and he can't do that on the Spurs bench can he? He could help fire into Europe, remember we are only 3 points off 4th place, if we bring in 3-4 quality players, who knows what could happen?!?

I thought Defoe said he wanted to stay at Spurs. I think he's a good player but why would he swap the Spurs bench for the Villa bench. He can live anoutstanding life style and be lazy down there. There must be someone who wants to play for Villa like Reo Coker did as soon as there was an interest.

As Stratford is in Warwickshire and not Worcestershire this must be a joke (or Mrs Defoe is truly dim. Hmmm, now I mention it ...)

As a Stratford resident all my life. I can't remember our move to Worcestershire. Whoever wrote this needs to buy a map. Anyway Defoe wouldn't spend his time on the Villa bench. He'd actually play. You see Villa play there good players who actually want to play. So come to Stratford, it's a great place to live. We've already got a wealth of actors in the area and footballers in the area. UTV

My only reservation is that he plays at the expense of Gabby. And then what happens to Maloney,Marlon and Luke?

Is that picture showing the goal he scored against us? Why would you use that? Is it to show his capability of scoring at Villa Park.

I get the feeling that no Right Winger will be coming and Gabbi will be pushed out there. Not too bad an option if you ask me!

ksarge1 - i have to agree with you. Imagine a four man attack comprising of carew, defoe, young and gabby??? And Chimbonda pushing up the right into midfield with barry and coker.

don't get too excited about JD lads - remember he's going out with that racist donut Danielle Lloyd. She was probably lost trying to find the Essex mansion......COYS

Defoe would be a tremendous signing for us. The difference I believe between finishing top six as opposed to being one of the also rans again.

I don't like Gabby on the wing, I want him upfront. I'd rather see Carew put on the bench than Gabby out wide. Who is this danielle racist towards?

PTP, you are lucky that you didn't see that shi.te Big Brother. Racism was towards Shilpa Shetty who is Indian. Gabby and Young as attacking wingers when we have the ball and midfielders when we have not got it.

I think Defoe would get twice as many goals in a season as Gabby would without doubt, plus to have Gabbi's pace still in the team with Young and Carew the attacking options are endless. Gabby's game has come on so much he can cross now even with his left foot(example Maloney's goal vs Chelsea). It would not suprise me if MON sees Gabby's long term future out on the right. Yes he is a good goal scorer, but not a sniffer who scores game in game out like defoe. Now Gabby,Young,Carew(Larson),Defoe as an attacking force would definately excite me....! you have the combination of skill, goals, height, pace

defoe would be a great signing for villa.....for any team actually....18 goals last season, while he was 3rd choice striker...you do the maths!!!..........but 7 mil ?.....you'll have to double that up for starters, even though he has only 18months left on his contract.

I actually think that 7-8 million will be accepted. Tottenham manager needs the money in. it will be no more than 9 million, i can assure you of that. IF it ever happens.

agree lillywhites, 18 goals for someone spending most of his time on the bench is amazing. Gabby is young and fast but still learning, 1 goal in 9 isn't great and we need someone sure of getting the goals. Defoe had one chance v us and took it with no problem at all.

who is his 'stupid bird' by the way? Thought the one in that god damn awful show was Sheringhams bit of stuff.

Defoe has a different girlfriend every couple of months and Danielle Lloyd dates a different footballer every few weeks so I wouldn't be too excited by this news. If only she'd go out with Sunday footballers..... Hmmmmmm,,,,,,

Agree with your sentiments concerning the price Carlosio, if we could get him for that amount, seven million, it would be a steal. Sadly, I think Ramos and co will be looking at closer to ten million surely?

signing defoe for 16m or 18m would show our ambition, he could be massive for us and i think is under rated. imagine gabby and defoe up front for england at the world cup!!

Anyone who can finish some more of the extra chances we have created this season would be welcome. Where's the Gudjonsen link gone? Defoe is quality in the box as we saw at VP recently. One shot at goal, bang! and did F all else. Still think MO'N should be on the phone to Barca, though.

Can't see him moving for 7m ! - spurs would want at least 10m - which I reckon will prove the stumbling block.

I honestly beleive Defoe will go nowhere he appears to be angling for a new contract at spurs, and he'll get it. As for his missus looking for a property in Stratford, has anyone ever thought it could be because she needs a house between London and Liverpool to be near to both Defoe and her family. I hope i'm wrong and he'll sign next week but i don't think so some how!!!
