Unoial Villa News...

A caller on Talk Sport last night claimed that we are set to sign Henrik Larsson on loan for the rest of the season. He was linked last year as well but eventually ended up at Manchester United.

According to reports yesterday Leicester are set to sign Aston Villa midfielder Isaiah Osbourne on loan early next week.

Apparently Gary Cahill could return to Sheffield United on loan. Seems that Blues and Sunderland would like to buy him but Villa are only interested in loaning the player out.

Rumours have been circulating that Olof Mellberg has been in Turin talking about a move to Juventus. The Villa defender is free to sign a pre-contract with any club as his contract ends in the summer, Thomas Sorenson and Martin Laursen are also free to do the same. It is all a bit mind blowing to see the value of players all able to leave for nothing should they wish. The reports claim that the 30-year-old Swede has been in Turin and underwent a medical for Juventus and will join them in the summer. Full article: Click Here

Valencia are according to some reports willing to listen to bids for Portuguese full back Miguel with both Aston Villa and Chelsea said to be interested. Apparently they were set to keep him but now want to off-load him following an incident in a night club last week. I had an incident in a nightclub once. I put my drink down, the next minute it was gone. Hair raising. Yes, I really have walked on the wild side of life.

Villa and Blackburn Rovers have agreed to move their game at Villa Park to Saturday 26 January with a 3pm kick off. Originally it was set for Wednesday 30 Jan but with both teams no longer in the FA Cup, they have agreed to switch it to the more traditional Saturday date.

Vital Villa asked, What do think of professional footballers wearing gloves ? Not bothered either way. (54%) Wimps! (33%) Terrible - what would Andy Lochead think ? (10%) Fashion accessory fair enough ! (3%) Next up, are players shorts too long.... or maybe not! ;-) NURSE...

Transfer speculation over the last few days includes Pascal Chimbonda, Arsenal's Lassana Diarra and more rumours on Jermain Defoe. For more: Click Here

Tom Hanks is a Villa fan. Oh, and apparently John Kettly is a weather man and weather man, a weather man, John Kettly is a weather man and so is Michael Fish (and no, I've not gone off my rocker, just an old song stuck in my little brain) Full article (and no more silly songs) Click Here

Interview with a Reading fan ahead of the weekends game: Click Here

Curtis Davies says all he wants is to keep a clean sheet on Saturday v Reading: Speaking on the official site, he said: 'We haven't managed to keep a clean sheet since I have been in the team. That's my next objective and hopefully it will come against Reading. Reading have been leaking a few and scoring a few. We need to concentrate at the back and hopefully keep their attacking players at bay. That's what we want to do as a defensive unit. We need to concentrate on the task in hand. They must play open, attacking football so we need to be on our toes. But if we can defend well, we have people up front in John, Gabby and Ashley who can hurt them.' Full article: Click Here

Admitting completely it's an old cliché, but Scott Carson is wondering if our season could be made in the league now because we have no further distractions. I do see the point and can see the reason for making this a news item, I'm just not sure I agree. 'We need to win our home games, that's the priority - hopefully starting on Saturday. Europe is still very much in our sights and you never know, defeat to Manchester United could be a blessing in disguise for us.' Full quotes: Click Here

Great article on the treatment of fans in football: Click Here

Looks like many Villa fans are open to the rumour that Pascal Chimbonda is a target for Aston Villa after the players agent said he would be interested in a move to Villa Park. 54% were in favour with 'like it, buy him'. 32% said he would be ok but there are better. 7% said they hated the rumour and didn't want us to buy him with a further 7% saying 'No idea, leave me alone'!

Our latest poll asks who you would play in goal, Carson, Sorenson, Taylor or buy another.

Thought for the day: Show me a piano falling down a mineshaft and I'll show you A-flat minor.

Pablo1978, not guilty sir. You have to have me mixed up with someone else. I have never discussed a Villa shirt with you, or with anyone else for that matter. I know not of what you talk, sorry.
