Agent Talks Up Spurs Player Move

Oh great, more agent talk.

Spurs defender Pascal Chimbonda, linked to a move along with Jermain Defoe, is very interested in joining Villa according to Willie McKay, his agent.

Is this the same agent who helped the player agitate for a move from Wigan only last year?

He said: 'Would Pascal welcome a move to Aston Villa? Of course he would. He is looking to leave Tottenham and Villa are a big club with great potential.'

Not totally sure about Chimbonda, he is a French international and always looks ok to me, but I can be pretty blinkered, if they aren't in Villa's colours, they don't always register.

Maybe some Spurs fans can let us know what they think of him? There must be a reason why the new boss Ramos is looking to replace him?

Our latest poll asks what you think of the Chimbonda link.

Well he's a good defender, French international and has been wanted by Chelsea, however he's a bad egg meaning Ramos wants rid. I'm not too sure, i'd be pleased if we signed him but there are better.

There are much better out there. Don't rate him at all. Would rather Melly stay at right back than have this journeyman!

He is a great defended and will serve you well assuming you get him. TBH since shelsea are keen on him I can't see you outbidding them. I'll tell you the reason that we are selling him is that in 2 yrs he'll be worth nowt as he is already 29. Daniel Levy wants his 5.5mil back and as there is a opportunity tpo see a 200% return on the original investment we'll take that cash and invest it in youth. He is a fighter and I like him a lot. I also don't mind your lot so I wouldn't be that unhappy if he went there - just cannot see you beating Chelski to his signature. Bad luck on the Manure game btw - I thought you played em off the park for the whole game just as we did the filth last night! Absolutely gutted! Ramos has the skills to pay the bills though so there is a good chance we can do em at the lane next week. Fecking Chelsea first though. - see it doesn't all have to be childish insults between rival fans.......... Big up the YIDS.....and come on you Villa

On his day he is a very good player. Funnily enough he is a better defender when switched to centre back rather that his normal position. Very good going forward. I went mad when I saw the Chelsea links in the summer but now I wouldn't be too down if he left as he's been part of a disasterous defence all season whcih Ramos is trying to rectify.

As a Spurs fan, I reckon you're right to be sounding a note of caution regarding Chimbonda. I'm pleased to see Ramos laying out some pretty sound ground rules - you're either totally committed or you're out! I think any player who has McKay as an agent's should be given a wide berth. After all this is the guy who handed in a transfer request at Wigan as he came off the pitch at the end of the final game of the season, citing a desire to win trophies and international ambitions... Then at the end of last season, Willie McKay was at it again, touting Chimbonda around Chelsea. Chimbonda's greedy, driven on by McKay, his head's been turned and iMO Spurs need to get rid asap. Although it pains me to say it, Krisvilla's right, anyone who's been in Spurs' defence this season aint a worldbeater! Think he'll be trouble wherever he goes - until he's at a so called top 4 club and is on even more ridiculous wages.

He has one cap for France i beleive but has never been in the squad since the world cup (the summer he eventually signed for Tottenham). He first season was blinding but he hasn't got that sparkle this year. I don't know whether the Chelsea talk shook him up a bit but at times at the back he can be a bit lazy. Better in the oppositions box than his own.

Funny how you don't mind us, I've got a thing or two to say about how I feel about your lot but I'll leave it off as your being so polite and thing. We souldn't get picky, we need someone to play right back and its as simple as that. I say get him, expecially if we get Defoe in the deal. UTV

Would you take him as a make wieght for Barry?- thought not. He is good but it gets rather frustrating when he dreams about being a striker and is out of position when we are attacked. On his day he is fantastic but there are times you wonder. I am not convinced he will improve you unless you want competition for places?

Martin wont let him ***** about. I feel confident he can be a good player for us. I'd love competition for places, just need a couple of right backs thats the thing

And he has silly hair. There again, I have no hair, so that might just be envy talking!

He's a decent right full back in my opinion. We desperately need a specialist in that position, and there aren't too many out there. If he's available, we surely have to be interested?

Please take him. He doesn't want to play for us and it shows. When he was at Wigan he would tear up the wing and bang in crosses, but all he does for us is pass the ball back to central mid-field or play a crap hopeful ball towards Lennon which is usually telegraphed and cut-out. He might be good for you for a few months until he feels he isn't being paid enough.

I dont like the sound of him, sounds like a stereotypical frenchman, (mr anelka, Laurent robert etc) We should stick to les rosbifs!

As I said on another thread about him.... not for me I am afraid, from the little I have seen of him (not much to base a judgement on I guess), he has been inconsistent and judging from his acrimonious departure from Wigan and the fact that he is being openly touted for another move worrying. Wasn't there some story about a loan he had taken out not being paid as well, i would rather have a decent right back, who is not a self centred ********* please.

I don't know though, I know he asked to leave Wigan, but remember how good he was there in that season, really showed that he could play. I think MON might be the tonic to his inherent French-ness. It's a bit of a leap, but as PTP says, we need a right back...let's give him a go, I say.

Hmm - "stereotypical frenchman". Would that be like Henry, Zidane, Petit, Cantona, etc., etc. ... :o)

Seems strange that Tottenham would let him go until they have a replacement on board. I'd read the lad from Cardiff was not an immediate first team prospect, while Hutton seems adamant that he's going to remain at Ibrox. Then again, maybe Ramos is well aware of european based full backs who he feels will do a job for Spurs, and is on the brink of bringing someone in.

On the other hand B the B he could be like Pascal Cygan, Jean Alain Boumsong, Matheiu Berson, Larent Robert, Sinama Pongolle, Anthony Letallec et al !!!
