More Villa Transfer Speculation

The latest in the rumour mill comes from The Birmingham Mail who reckon that Martin O'Neill will now turn to Spurs mercenary defender Pascal Chimbonda after Arsene Wenger said Villa had 'no chance' of singing Arsenal's Justin Hoyte.

I thought we'd got a right-back lined up and ready to move in the January window? Still, what do I know? DON'T answer that, I'm easily hurt.

Chimbonda, who pestered and sulked until Wigan sold him to Spurs against their wishes, is now unhappy at recent arrival Chris Gunter and reported Spurs bids for Rangers Alan Hutton. He said: 'I think if this happened to any other player they would be disappointed and would even consider handing in a transfer request, but I don't want to cause trouble. It looks like the club are looking to replace me and we will see what happens.'

Meanwhile Villa are amongst a host of clubs being linked to Arsenal's Lassana Diarra with increased speculation after the player was left out of the squad for tonight's Carling Cup semi-final first leg against Spurs. The 22-year-old defensive midfielder joined Arsenal from Chelsea in the summer but has failed to make an impact.

Another report reckons that Spurs striker Jermain Defoe would consider a move to Aston Villa but would rule out a move to Middlesbrough. With no quotes or substance, I am not convinced this is anything other than tittle tattle. Tittle tattle, that must be the first time I've used that expression, happy days!

Meanwhile Villa's 18-year-old midfielder Chris Herd has joined Port Vale on a month's loan and Zoltan Stieber has extended his loan at Yeovil until January 31.

Tittle tattle indeed.
Adam Deuce
Would both be great signings
Chimbonda..... no thanks, he is one greedy tosser, and not that good a player in my honest.
Or we could always stick the finger up to Spurs and get Alan Hutton, like we stole Reo Coker :D
Villa 4 Ever
Yawn!!!!????????? how can you say that!!!!!! both top quality players! And i rate chimbonda over Hutton! he is proven at prem level!
That's why they are replacing him and even Man Utd have been looking at Hutton...He is big, strong, young, plenty of talent tell me how he doens't fit MON's hitlist.
Villa 4 Ever
Hutton to Villa.Haha..Dont think he'd want to go to a long ball team..Whats the percentage of your recent goals scored from set plays. How many top players can you attract..All you are a a hard working team with a strong work ethic..Surprised you did not bid for Savage..really was. Your type of player..Where was Agbonlahor, young. They face worldclass players and they become anonymous..Internationals!!What a Joke.Had to turn off your defeat to Manu due to the pain looking up at the ball. Should send your moaning manager the bill!
Hmm. Did anyone hear a nasty buzzing noise just then? :o)
Nah i think it was the sound of ***** sticking to the bottom of the pan.....
I used to love transfer rumours but they are just boring now. The transfer window really has ruined the excitiement factor.
I am getting more and more concerned at the number of Tottenham rejects we are being linked with. It'll be Robinson next the way we are going.
Freddya - Why do you get a neckache watching television? Did you pick up the tv when it was kicked in case the ball flew out of the top and broke something in your deluded mind?
It's still rumours and tabloid speculation, but Chimbonda, Diarra and Defoe would certainly had quality to the squad. None are world beaters, but all are proven quality and would certainly help us push for Europe.
I would be very happy to get Chimbonda. We would lose nothing defensivley if he replaced Melly as he's just like having another CB at RB but we would gain his ability to go forward. I think Defoe really needs to move and if he came to us and got 1st team action week in week out he would be sure to make the England Team given his ability to score goals. Now is the right time to move if 1st team football can't be offered given the new start under Capello. I would also like to see Diarra signed as if he can get into the French 1st team then he's got obvious talent.
Defoe was poor last night missing a sitter and as for the hairdo??
Chimbonda is very good, sign him up MON quick.....before MiddleVilla offer him 100,000 a week!
Im bored of transfer speculation, we should all reconvene on 1st feb and see what player mon has signed. then we can all say that player is a load of rubbish, whats goin on, then we qualify for europe and MON is a hero again , and what a master stroke the player bought in January was , who is this player you ask? just you wait and see!Come back 1st Feb 2008
Aparently Chimbonda wants to sign for Villa according to hia agent, also i heard on talk sport today that Defoes other half is looking for a place to live in the midlands. Is that because he is signing for us or is it because she wants to be closer to her family ????
The arrival at B6 of Chimbonda and (even more so) Nigel Reo-Cokers buddy would add up to a January window that met with my full approval. Our two most critical needs addressed in one swoop, a specialist right full back and a proven quality premiership striker. Suddenly a top six final finish wouldn't look such a long shot. Bring 'em on Martin.
What about our right midfiels situation? I hate watching gabby play there, he needs to be upfront
