A Bit Of Everything Else Villa

Thomas Sorensen seems to have got his wish move away from Villa and not to a Japanese club.

Rumours have surfaced recently about a move to Derby County, either permanently or at the very least on loan, and the goalie has now spoken out about it, and would welcome such a switch across the Midlands.

Speaking to reporters in Denmark, he said:

'There can be no worse solution than being left out for the rest of the season.

'I can drive to and from my house and play in The Premier League [with Derby] and, at the same time, be a help to them.

'That would be the optimal outcome.

'For me, it is the most important thing to be playing but it depends also on their thinking.

'If they want to have me just for now or whether it is more long term.'

John Carew hopes he can shed his journeyman tag and stay at Villa for longer than the foreseeable future.

Speaking to the Sultana website, he said:

'I hope to be a Villa player for many years, it's good to be at a club with such big potential.

'There's no reason why Villa shouldn't get into Europe. We've a lot of talent, a great manager and a lot of young players with great futures.'

Scorr Carson believes the hangover of exertions in previous games was to blame for our defeat against Manchester United in the Cup.

Blaming the hectic Xmas and New Year schedule the on loan goalie told the official site:

'For 80 minutes it was a positive performance.

'We had done well over the Christmas period, played some good football and got some top results.

'The exertions of those games probably showed in the last 10 minutes. We had given everything.

'They got a lucky break for the first goal with the ball going through Curtis's legs before their cross and then Rooney wrapped it up for them.

'But it's important to take the positives from any defeat. We did well for a long period. We can't get too disheartened with the loss.'

And finally, Martin Laursen has said on IC Brum that he is more than willing to sign an extension for Villa if the terms are right.

To be honest I think this is mostly a rehash of previous news, but one bit that stood out for me was a comment in relation to the Spuds and Barcodes that I don't remember seeing previously.

'I'm feeling really well with Villa and would be open to extend with them if the terms are right.

'I've read in the press that those two clubs (Spurs and Newkie) would be interested in me.

'I don't know if they have spoken to Aston Villa, I haven't heard anything, but it's two big clubs and it's cetainly something that would interest me.'

Get the Laursen deal done ASAP!! Laursen quotes "....but it's two big clubs and it's cetainly something that would interest me.".... that sounds very worrying!

Have you heard about us swapping Agbonlahor for Defoe rumour lmfaaoooooo !!!! made me laugh 10 minutes straight !!!!........... Gabby is way better than Defoe and has a brighter future, supports Vill and he is a local.......... He is also settled and might get his England cap very soon....He is also alot Faster and can play on the wings and we brought him through the academy................He broke basically all of Vassells records in the youth and reserve records.

Any chance of a petition Fear to send to Villa to ensure Laursen signs a new contract!! Honestly he is genuinely 'world-class' the only player in our squad who can be names 'world-class' there is literally no-one in the league I would rather have playing centre-back for the Villa!!

Laursen must stay. End of. I can imagine a serious fan backlash if he was somehow allowed to leave. Money no object sign him up NOW!

Laurrson is great and we all want him to stay. Hopefully, as he says, he wants to stay too, if the deal is right. I hope he also feels he perhaps still owes us something after his long term injury. Although football is a fickle world, his celebration against Spurs was lovely, natural and he looks a thoroughly nice guy. I think I'd prefer to trust MON to spell out the case, tell him how good he is without going overboard, tell him we like him big time, and all at the club want bim to stay and be part of Villa's climb further up the ladder to Europe and hopefully a trophy - and persuade and appeal to him that way.

Is it me, or are we on the verge of history repeating itself under the first Big Ron - that's Ron Saunders! Shrewd manager. Half the team ever present. Width and pace. Defending like lions. Come on Martin, keep the momentum going. At last Villa have some shape, purpose and are showing a will to win right up to the last minute. We have at least 7 or 8 players worthy of top flight football. Just add 2 to 3 more quality signings and the job may just be done...

Great opportunity to end the season in style, and clinch a top six placing. All we need to switch into overdrive is two or three quality additions. Come on Martin, get your incoming transfer hat on. Oh, and get ML tied down on a new long term deal. We surely cant afford to let this guy walk away? The guy is playing the best football of his career.
