Where is Mustapha Salifou?

Where is Salifou?

As many of you will know, on the last day of the summer transfer window we signed Moustapha Salifou from FC Wil and like many villa fans I am wondering where on earth he is.

He has played for the reserves many times and in fact played for them last night. He has also had much praise whilst in the reserves and has created quite a few goals due to his killer ball instinct.

On August 31, 2007, Salifou signed a one-year deal, joining for a nominal fee after a successful trial. Martin O'Neill commented that 'He has great determination to succeed at this level and may well prove to be an excellent asset'. The midfielder joined from Swiss side FC Wil, but had previously played for French side Stade Brest 29 and German team Rot-Weiß Oberhausen.

Whilst playing at Stade Brest he had a very impressive goals record scoring 16 goals 7 appearances. He is a member of the national team, and was called up to the 2006 World Cup. He played in all three of Togo's group games in that World Cup against South Korea, Switzerland and France. He has 33 caps scoring 4 goals.

He earnt glowing reports after a positive performance at the World Cup, this alerted the attention of many French league clubs, and prompted the nickname the 'Togolese Zidane', due to Salifou's playmaking nature.

Soooooooooooooooo, when, or is he ever going to be given his chance in the senior team?????? I have heard on a few occasions that Martin O'Neil has said that he is pushing hard for a spot in the first team but his fitness is not up to scratch.

How long before he is considered fit? Any one know any more details?

I don't know? I thought this would be a "Where's Wally" type of thing.
Villain Of The North
I would love to see this guy given a chance. He apparently creates goals and would help give us a different dimension. I am still wondering why he has not even made the bench yet! He must be ahead of Berger as he has looked shocking everytime he has appeared this season.
KSarge1
where's wally, showing your age there Villain. I on the other hand am much too young to remember such a thing!
The Fear
I'll be 36 on Friday thankyou Mr Fear, so I am clearly just a baby compared to you :-P
Villain Of The North
KSarge1 i'd swap him for Berger to mate at least MON would be able to see how he would fair up in the Prem.
Mutt_Man
I think he was taken out of the reserves and put on the bench for a game or 2. Still at the moment we're not seeing much of this rotation type thing that MON was talking about a while ago. I think Maloney should be first team after his recent displays, at least for a little bit. I hope we see Salifu sometime this season, every villa fan I know wants him to be given a chance,

It doesn't quite roll off the tongue quite so well as Where's Wally, does it? Where's Mustapha Salou? I think that's a hard sell to be honest.
The Usual Suspect
I saw him down the Nag's Head last Thursday. He's doin a bit of work behind the bar for a couple of months before doin a bit of travelling. He sends his regards

He's developing and progressing in the reserve team right now, in my opinion the right place for him. He played o.k. last night at Bescot against West Ham, but is he ready to leap-frog over our current midfield operators in the first team squad? I for one dont think so. He was a gamble, and while admittedly it does look as if it might be a rare gamble that actually pays-off, why the need to rush him into first team action before he's ready? MON and co are obviously monitoring his progress closely. They'll know better than anyone when the time is indeed right to step him up to another level.

think we need to bring him on against reading, put him on, on the 60th minute, give him half an hour and let's see how far off he is. He'll only get fitter getting real match end to end stuff.
Villa 4 Ever
hes only got a 1 year contract too!
