Preferred Villa Striker Target?

Vital ran a snap poll yesterday asking which of the three main strikers we have been linked with you would prefer.

The main links have been Peter Crouch from Liverpool, Jermain Defoe from Spurs and Obafemi Martins from Newcastle United

Looks like the Magpies man is the one most want as Martins got 62%

The former Villa striker and England international Peter Crouch was next up with 18% and Jermain Defoe trailed with just 12%. That left 8% wanted a.n.other striker.

In truth, we could do with two anyway, Luke Moore is possibly not going to make the grade, Marlon Harewood doesn't even make the bench half the time and John Carew does pick up a fair amount of injuries. Are we serious about being title contenders? If so, is what will bring in the people who can put the ball in the back of the net game in and game out!

Can't see any paper links at the moment today for Villa, will update later if I do catch drift of any gossip! One thing that did catch my eye though is the report in the News of the World claiming that Jermain Defoe is about to agree a new five year deal doubling his wages with Spurs. Hopefully if true that will stop him being linked to us every transfer window!

The latest poll is a tough one as it is asking for the man of the match v Man Utd. In a rather dull game it is a difficult one.

But i would take martins, although he's hardly prolific
villavillavilla
you like Benzema then villavillavilla?!?! Trouble is he might take a while to fit in whereas these three are regular Prem players. Just looked this up on Benzema: You tube clip - Click Here

Dave Kitson is the answer.

Is this Benzema really that good ??? After all is that not the league that Baros went to retire :p
Mutt_Man
lol, thanks for clearing that up then Stig!!!!!!!!! Must admit I quite like the look of Kitson having jemmed up on him since Macka mentioned him. Seems to score for fun and has a 1 in 2 ratio
The Fear
Wait for the Marlon King link ! - Also how much longer can people expect 10m players - only to get 4m ones - but still beleive the manager is sitting on pots of cash ? - reality must bite one day.

Don't know much about Benzema, but the video is showing him knocking the ball in from all angles after finding him completely unmarked with an open goal in front of him. Having watched a bit of french football a few years ago I can't say that the defending is anywhere near as tough as the level he'll find in our league. Although i agree that luke Moore is struggling, I'd still back him to be in the top 5 scorers if he found himself in france. We need proven quality if we're to go to 'the next level', and probably in other areas than up front really (assuming MON does his usual "get 3 in but let 2 go" school of squad building).
lorenzo
Id have martins over all of them

I cant see us getting any of these name strikers that are continually linked to us, certainly not in January. Defoe really needs to move on, but I'm far from convinced that he's actually an MON target.
