'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Villa Manager's Post Match Reaction

Martin O'Neill told the official site after the great 2-1 win over Spurs:

'The three points today were colossal for us. We've travelled to Stamford Bridge and managed to pick up a point with 10 players and then come from behind to beat Wigan. I was concerned about the energy levels. But the players keep defying me.' Adding, 'I thought it was all Villa in the first half. We got a goal and deserved to be in front. But when the game isn't out of reach against a side like Tottenham, you know you might pay for it.'

And after we went 1-1, 'They scored and then we had to re-adjust ourselves. But thankfully, Martin Laursen has come to our aid big time. It was a great goal - nearly as good a chance as the effort he missed first half.'

Decent game, thought in the first half we played them off the pitch and it is so obvious with a top striker - and I mean top striker - added to our squad we could well seriously start pushing for the top four and certainly the top six.

Meanwhile Spurs boss Ramos told the press: "I am not happy because we have come back from a goal down, created chances, and still lost. I think a draw would have been a fairer result."

"We are lacking in some defensive departments, and it is something we need to look at. We are paying for lapses. We need to find a solution to our defensive problems. If we can't sort the problems out with the players we already have here, we will look outside for other players."

MON says: Decent game, thought in the first half we played them off the pitch and it is so obvious with a top striker - and I mean top striker - added to our squad we could well seriously start pushing for the top four and certainly the top six......was that a hint he has something up his sleeve?

Well since I found out that NRC is very good friends with Jermaine Defoe, I have to admit that I'm hoping against hope that the former can persuade the latter to come onboard the B6 revolution. The type of finish that Defoe produced on Tuesday, is the type of clininal finishing that could be the difference between us finishing top ten or top six. He would so complement Big JC and Gabby too.
