Unoial Villa News...

Former Aston Villa midfielder Thomas Hitzlebeefburger, aka SHOOOOOOOT, says he is settled at Stuttgart but would like to play in England again at some point.

According to The Sun, Sheffield United and Sunderland would both like to sign Villa defender Gary Cahill. The England U21 central defender has been on loan at the Blades this season but has now returned to Villa. Bryan Robson has said he'd like him back either on loan or permanently adding, 'Martin won't decide on Gary until the transfer window. He's got contract talks of his own with Martin Laursen and Olof Mellberg first.'

The Villa site has said that the Manchester City game is heading for a sell out and fans should buy tickets in advance to save missing out. For ticket info, Click Here

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Mowbray has denied the press reports linking him with unsettled Villa striker Luke Moore. He told the Birmingham Mail, 'I don't know where this comes from. I have every respect for these players but we must remember: Luke Moore has played for Aston Villa in the Premier League. I don't know what he earns, but I'm assuming it's money that our players can only dream of. I've never had any conversations with Martin O'Neill about any of his players.''

Villa have been linked with Valencia defender Miguel, also linked with Chelsea. The Portugal international has expressed interest in playing in the Premier League: 'I can say with some conviction that I would like to play in England.' See, told you!

Meanwhile Thomas Sorensen says he has had enough and will not sign a new contract even if it is offered - which by the looks of it, it won't be! Sulky Sorryson

Stiliyan Petrov has given the Villa a boost after returning to training in the hopes of being fit for this weekends game against Manchester City. He told the Birmingham Mail: 'I did my first session yesterday and it felt alright, there was no reaction,' Petrov said. 'I've been working with the physios for the last week so this was the first chance I've had to test it out. But it felt okay and we will see where we are at the end of the week when I've had a full week's training. It was only a strain and after the scan, the Manchester City game was always my target and that hasn't changed.'

Aston Villa beat Notts County 3-0 in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Bodymoor Heath. Shaun Maloney, Marlon Harewood and James Collins scored the goals. Patrik Berger, Luke Moore, Stuart Taylor, Isaiah Osbourne and Stephen O'Halloran also featured.

Reports today claim that Porto right-back Jose Bosingwa, who has been linked to a £7million move to Villa about 3652 times in the last year, isn't looking to move to Villa or anywhere else in England. Can't say I blame him, it is a bit chilly! Right-Back Target Rules Out Move?

Olof Mellberg is hoping for some Christmas cheer this year after a dire tally of results last year. 'It's important to get a good start in this period, so you can sort of get going. Because there are so many games, you really climb the table if you play well. If you look at last season, the middle part of the season was what caused our position at the end. We had a really good start and a really good finish, so this period was what cost us. We had a bad Christmas and because there are so many games in this period, a bad spell at this time of the year can be costly.' Full quotes: Mellberg Looking For Christmas Cheer

Man of the match vote from Vital Villa for Sunderland v Villa had Shaun Maloney take the honours with 59% of the vote. Our latest poll is asking what you think of Scott Carson so far: What do you think of Carson so far?

Shaun Maloney has said, as long as Martin O'Neill wants him, he can't see why he won't stay at Villa, transfer window looming or not. Full article: Bad News For My Chicken Pies

The Fulham v Aston Villa clash, which was due to be played on Saturday at 3pm (Saturday at 3pm, what a stupid time for football!) will now be played on Sunday 3 February with a kick off time of 4pm.

Thought for the day: What did the grape say when it got stepped on? Nothing - but it let out a little whine.

Interesting few days at Villa Park, providing quite a few talking points. Positive talk at last about Shaun Maloney, balanced out by the somewhat worrying story surrounding Gary Cahill. Supporters actually looking forward to the return of Stan Petrov, while Olof could be about to enter his final set of Christmas? New Year games with the club.
