He hasn't set the world on fire so far. He hasn't done badly but there is definately room for improvement. I say sign him up for his potential as much as anything else. The consensus among football pundits is that he will be England's No.1 for years so let's snap him up! Plus Sorensen has just burnt his bridges.....

i'd like to see carson sign, but not for 10 mil. I reckon we'd be better giving sorensen another contract despite his flaws and finding another keeper out there who can do a job for a lot less than 10 mil. Isn't that what we pay our scouts for?
johnnyuk
I think he should be dropped at this stage as he is becoming a serious liabilty,he was dreadful against Sunderland and made a complete hash of the disalowed goal.
Pking
£10m seems to be a lot to me. He is neat enough around his area but I don't see the reflex saves that great keepers make. Too often the ball is in the net and he is looking at a defender. Not convinced at all.
Gordonsleftboot
He is still a good keeper with pootential to become great. Even the best take time to settle. I think that once he has done that he will get better and better. Even Peter Cech made a mistake that cost his team the game. I cant think of a better keeper that is available and would want to come to us at the moment.
return of godzvilla
Obviosly that should read potential.

£10m , has he made a "save" all season? I can't remember one and at £10m I expect one a game ! Never even caught a cross or corner! Tell me what he does for £10m ? Needs a rest before he costs us a game.
Villan57
Never worth £10 million, but that is not a price tag he put on his own head. A reasonably competent keeper who is average in most departments but doesn't excel in any. Strikes me as a keeper who is good enough for a team challenging to finish top half but not good enough for one with higher aspirations. A bit like Sorenson but younger.
voiceoftheholte
only carson can kick, and sorenson couldnt. Carson always looks to release the ball early, always looking up the pitch to see who is making a run. I think people are being over critical of him on here personally, dont forget he is only 22, in goal keeper terms he is still a baby.
Stig
I think he's got enough about him to be a top notch goalkeeper for us. I really think he's got a lot of ability, he does make good saves, but there has been a noticable conifdence drop since that england game, but tell me who wouldn't have had a confidence drop after that. If we show him the loyalty by buying him, for whatever it costs, he will provide us with at least 10 years good service...and i think that for 10mil is certainly worth it.
AstonMartinOneill
He's young and will get better, he's already good.
weller77
I think £7m maybe a fair price for Scotty...
bazzah
who cares how much he costs, Randy can afford it!
andrew144
He is good for his age and has a lot of potential, but £10m is way too much to be spending on potential. That kind of money should get you a proven 'keeper in his prime. That said, I would like to see us sign him for around £5M and let him fulfill his potential under MON at Villa Park. To improve, he will need to get plenty of first team action, so there would be no point signing a Jaaskalainen type of player as well. I think we should negotiate a fair price, get him on a long contract and just put up with a season or so with the odd poor game (which should get fewer and further between over time). If Liverpool will not budge on the price of £10m, we should shop around - I wonder how much Foster would cost? He is a local(ish) lad and Man Utd are obviously grooming Kuszczak to take over from Van Der Sar.
GCR_villlan
Dreadful against Sunderland Pking? How do you work that out? We must have watched different games my friend. Having said that, at £10m, if that is indeed the asking price, I'd say 'No Way'. He might progress and develop as he gains experience, then again he might not. I'm certainly not 100% convinced about his capabilities, but to describe him as 'dreadful' this past weekend is just plain wrong.
glensider
He is still learning, that is for sure, whereas Sorensen is the finished product, so guess that is a major difference.
The Fear
I'm with Glensider, i thought he had a sound game on saturday (by the way the dissallowed goal was a foul Mr Keane!!). I admit he has made a few mistakes this season, but show me a keeper that hasn't (apart from Foster cos he's been injured). Give the lad time and i'm sure he'll more than prove his worth, as long as his worth doesn't exceed £7 million!!!
Kuffit
He was only called into action a handful of times on Saturday,he made a couple of catches on some crosses and that was it.There was one straightfoward save and he parried it straight back out to the striker and the goal was dissalowed. He was really let of the hook for the other dissalowed goal.Like someone else already said too often the ball is in the net and he's looking at a defender. The guy is grosely overrated and is gradually getting found out as the weeks go by.
Pking
He won't be signed in January anyway. MON has him on a season long loan, and will keep it that way. We then have more time to make a considered judgement. If you were to ask me now? For £5m - yes- for £10m - no, but I can't think of very many top keepers anyway. A lot to do with the beach balls they play with now. Move all obver the place and make keepers look poor.
krfeskivilla
He seems a competent goalkeeper - but doesn't seem to be able to raise his game to anything beyond this. I haven't seen him make a spectacular save since he has has been here. Personally I would opt for the experience of sorenson . I would only pay 4 -5 for him - I know people talk potential - but what are they basing this on ? the fact that he comes from liverpool ?
