Bad News For My Chicken Pies

Bad News For My Chicken Pies

Bad news for my pies, it seems that Shaun Maloney is settling in at Villa Park and has denied reports linking him with a return to Celtic.

The wee scamp, who showed great interest in my Chicken pie at the last home game, told the official site following his great free kick that saved the Villa's blushes at Sunderland:

'To be honest all the reports are not really from down here. I don't really see them but obviously my family do but I don't make much of it. I am enjoying training a lot more than I did last season but I would like to play a bit more. Obviously you want to play as much as you can and get in the starting eleven. I want to play a lot more but to be honest there are other players on the bench who want to play as well.'

Adding, 'Fingers crossed a goal like that will help my cause. I haven't seen the manager about my future I am just training away.' And after being asked if he will still be here when the transfer window closes at the end of January the Scotland international said he can't see why not as long as Martin O'Neill wants him.

'I would imagine so. I'm more settled. I have got a place now. I am really enjoying training now - I just want to get on the pitch a bit more. I have got a place in the city centre so things are fine now. It is better than it was last season.'

Good news, the lad has so much potential, lets hope he gets his chance and takes it with both hands, or probably more appropriately both feet.

Sounds promising, let's hope he can kick on from here. I think he can become a great player for us.

I'm not so sure about becoming a 'great' player for us Jon.H, but I do think that he has ability to offer, if he can only settle down and adjust to life here in beautiful Brum. Its not going to be easy for him to cement a place in the starting line-up, but I would certainly like to see him on from the start against Sven's lot at the weekend, and then lets take it from there.

lets hope MON sticks to his play well and play often speaches, I'd love to see Maloney break into the first team. I don't know why but I just get the feeling we can do something whenever we bring him on.

OMG well that's a turn up for the books, I really cannot remember a time I have disagreed with Mr Glensider regarding players, I think Maloney has something special to offer, hopefully he will reach his true potential with us and become one of the greats, but I am also quite sure that no one would be happier to be proved wrong on this occasion.

I would like to see a run of games with Maloney and Young operating on the flanks. They both have the ability to control the ball, keep possession, beat defenders, put in good crosses from open play & dead balls and score goals. They can both do a job on either side and could change up to make it more difficult for our opponents to shut them down. It may leave us a little too exposed defensively to play them against Man Utd (especially on the right with Ollie at full back), but attack is supposed to be the best form of defence!

Have to agree to disagree Glensider, I think Maloney has great feet, is quick and bright and has the ability to unlock defences. Admittedly it is more potential than proven at this stage but I think he could be great. Or not......

Well I'm certainly not disagreeing or dismissing your opinions Jon. H and my good buddy steff. I like the lad a lot, but I'm just not convinced yet. But, I hope I'm proved wrong.
