New Year Resolutions For Reo-Coker

Speaking on the official site Nigel Reo-Coker has announced two of his New Year Resolutions and although ambitious, are hardly original.

No it's not quit smoking (not that I'm suggesting NRC does), it's not stop drinking as much (not that I'm suggesting his does), it's not lose a few pounds (his bum doesn't look big in our kit so he's fine).

Nope his two New Years Resolutions are to help villa get into Europe and to earn himself a debut in Capello's new England.

Having captained England before at U-21 level, Nigel is gagging to join Barry, Carson and Young in future squads, and I doubt he'd mind getting his hands on the Captains armband either!

'My Christmas wish would have to be an England call-up. I would love to make my England debut and I would be very happy if I got that opportunity.

'I still do want to play for my country and I hope I don't get overlooked and people don't forget about me.

'I am enjoying this new role and I have an opportunity of adding another strength to my repertoire.

'I am used to being a dynamic box-to-box midfielder but the gaffer wants me to play with more discipline and it is something I am doing for the team.

'He wants me to be a lot more defensive-minded as one of my main assets is my ability to win the ball and break up play and I think that is what Martin sees in me.

'This is a transitional season for Villa. I think we have to be very happy where we are in the league and Europe is our aim without a doubt.'

I never stick to my New Years Resolutions either :-p

lol, col8, you are wicked! Hopefully he'll settle into the new role, not sure he is 'the enforcer' type but then, I reckon MON probably has a little more idea than me about such things! ;-p
The Fear
His best position is in front of the back four. Roaster saved two certain goals in the second half of the Portsmouth game when he switched to that position.

I think he needs to concentrate on keeping his Villa place. England he's having a Laugh ! Mind you I suppose McCann got an England cap and he's a dead ringer for Gavin

Overall he's disappointed me so far, although I did think he had a decent game at The Stadium Of Light this past weekend, his best performance for quite a while. Expected more for our money though.

He is getting better. Personally I think he is a far better player than McCann (anyone notice that he and Jloyd have been missing since Bolton got better?). He is very strong, wins the ball and stays on his feet in the process. He just has to adjust his mindset to the fact that he is now a role player in a good team rather than being the best player in a crap team. Given a few more years, he may become as valuable to us as Makelele has been for Chelski.
gmvillan
Agree gmvillan that he's a much better option than McCann. I hope he does get to fill his undoubted potential here at B6, but up to right now, I have to say he hasn't overly impressed me.

Thought of bery highly though by MON and many so called outside experts, so hopefully he'lll get his act together during the second half of the season.
