John Carew - Sharper And Fitter

John Carew - Sharper And Fitter

John Carew has been speaking with the lovely Lisa Smith of the Birmingham Post.

The Norwegian striker says the teams home form isn't good enough and he will do his best to change it over the Christmas period.

'We have had four home defeats now and that is four too many. The public pay to come and see us and would have deserved to see even better performances at home. As players we are giving our best but we want to give the public the pleasure at Villa Park like we have done away.'

Adding, 'We have had some good away results but we want to share them with our public who turn up at Villa Park, the ones who come every other week. That makes me a bit sad but I am sure we will put it right. We are still in a good position. There is no reason to hang our heads. We have had a good winning streak and we have to try for that again.'

He also says he is returning to full fitness and feeling 'sharp'.

He also praises the Villa fans on the official site saying we've been 'fantastic' adding, 'They cheer us loudly all the time. They are fantastic with every player. They also have patience with us when we're not playing our best. That gives us the ability to get back to our best quickly because we're not under pressure. They have been superb and it's like having an extra man on the pitch. They are very important for us.'

And on the boss, 'Martin O'Neill is great to work with and I'm delighted to have him as my manager. He gets the best out of all his players. You can see, in a short time, what he has achieved. He is a good manager and also a good person.'

Must admit JC has started to show why the big man came with such a big reputation, lets hope he gets fitter, sharper and starts to really bang the goals in, that should help us reach for Europe this season.

He looks like he's lost a bit of weight. He does seem to get around the park more.

Same Moore never had a real chance to partner him, it was always with Gabby and setting him up.

More than anything i'm just glad to see big john has thrown baros' words back in his face by proving we got the better end of the swap deal.

Big John is doing just fine, doing the business, and looking good. No complaints from me about JC. A couple from the big dude tomorrow wouldn't go amiss either.

For me the jury is still out about big JC. he works hard... not sure what i can say after that. We did miss his presence for a few games thou. But I think that says more about the team in general than it does about JC.

Best target man since Withe , he's now played 4 games? without being subbed . Hope he's now got the stamina to last 90mins. Like mon says I don't think he realises just how good he is.

If he had a shot worth a mention he would no doubt be a Villa hero, all too often his efforts on goal seem to lack a sting and the ball often shuffles towards the goal at a very tame pace.

Agree about the best target man since Peter Withe Villan57. I like JC, and think he's an important member of the starting line up.

Dont think he's fully fit though, or if he is, maybe he's just injury prone. Seems somewhat delicate for a big guy, can dish it out, but cant take it.
