Bouma To Earn A New Contract

Bouma is another of our players who's contract expires in the summer, but the club also hold a one year option that can be kicked in at any point.

Bouma himself has expressed his happiness at Villa, and now it's believed that O'Neill will be sitting down with him sooner rather than later to tie up his future.

Speaking to the press, O'Neill said:

'Wilfred is another player who needs to know about his future and we'll talk to every single one of the boys.

'I can only judge by what I've seen since I've been here, but he's played a lot of games.

'I don't know what it was like for him beforehand, I think he had a few injury problems.

'Now he says himself he's over those and enjoying it, and the good news for Freddie is he's had a fairly lengthy run in the side and so far those niggling injuries that affected him before have left him alone.'

Sorry Pablo1978, but you've lost me. Got me mixed up with another Vital Villan perhaps? Another player left 'hanging on'. Strange approach by the club me thinks. As for Freddie, well he surely deserves another deal, doesn't he?

I like Freddie. Let's not forget he joined us as a CD. I think he has improved enormously, and whilst he will never be an attacking force he does link well down the left. Seeing as Ashley doesn't get back this may be just what we need at the moment. He had flu just before the Pompey game, so I can forgive a couple of lapses - at least he made it to the starting line up - I can think of a few that wouldn't.
