Shut It Sven!

Martin O'Neill has questioned why Man City boss Sven Goran Eriksson has been touting one of our players, Olof Mellberg, to other clubs. Seem Sven can't keep his mouth shut when it comes to Villa, I'm sure we all remember him talking about managing Villa to a fake Sheikh not so long back!

Reports last week claimed Sven had told Juventus to sign our Swedish international defender and O'Neill said of the matter:

'Recommending Olof to another club is surprising. Maybe I should recommend some of his Manchester City players to Barcelona or Manchester United and see how he likes it. Olof has shown a fantastic attitude for us this season and of course I would like to keep all our best players. I was really surprised with what Sven has said because it's out of character for him to be speaking like that. I'm not sure he should be saying things like that about our player unless he is aiming to take him for his club.'

I think I worded it better last week when I told Sven to shut his gob!

Meanwhile Craig Gardner has said how important a player Olof is to Villa: 'Olof is a tremendous player. He is really a centre-half but he has fitted in well at right-back for the moment and I think it is really important we keep him. We have got quite a small squad and it is really important we keep every single player in January. I would like to see Olof stay. It is squad of quality players. The gaffer has got rid of all the dead wood and brought in fresh wood and hopefully he will add to that in January.'
