O'Neill Praises Claret & Blue Army

O'Neill Praises Claret & Blue Army

Martin O'Neill has been praising the Villa fans again. He's just like David O'Leary in the praise of us isn't he?!?!?!?! Ok, maybe not!

With the attendances up and the atmosphere rocking at Villa Park (and of course our fantastic die hard away support) Martin O'Neill has not been slow to mention and thank the fans.

He told the official site:

'The crowd have been with us, big style. They have been fantastic. We want to give them good reason to cheer. We want to fulfill our side of the bargain. They are doing their side, and that's great credit to them. We have to now do ours. There is a decent feelgood factor and I want want us to keep challenging it, and not let our standards drop. The players have knuckled down, but we have to sustain this.'

And on how important a role the 12th man plays, 'The players have got good confidence from the crowd this season. A roar from the terraces has invariably sparked something happening on the pitch and has lifted the whole place. We've had a full Villa Park at full volume this season on numerous occasions, and that can be quite an incredible atmosphere. That does not mean that there will not be ropey moments and ropey times around the corner. And at those times the crowd will be right to vent their feelings.'

So lets all get down and fill the place Saturday?! Do You Love Christmas Shopping?

This season is the best I can remember for years in terms of atmosphere. On a personal level I just wish we could leave out the "My Old Man" and other anti Blues songs as we should be aiming higher than that (other than when we are actually playing them of course). I don't know if it's just me but there doesn't seem to be the same spontaneous wit that there used to be from the terraces and when you watch other teams at home all crowds seem to sing the same, or variations of the same songs. But when the Holte is rocking it surely must be a sight to behold ( I don't know because I'm always in there) and it's nice to know the players appreciate it.

This is not DOL's style OF PRAISING THE FANS... Nothing bad to praise fans constanatly. The fans could see, that they are really valuable addition in our good season.

It is important for us fans to remember how important we can be when the team is struggling. More important then than ever to make noise and get behind the lads. And PLEASE no more stupid idefensible booing of our own players. It's been great so far, let's keep our side of the equation going UTV

The atmosphere has been great this season and it really makes the day so much better if the ground is buzzing for 90 minutes! Lets keep it up.

hi guys - i know this as nothing to do with the topic, but i am stuck here in South Africa and to come across any Villa stuff is difficult. i doubt if i could get to see my beloved villa - but i harbour ambitions of doing that some day. Do anyof you have a poster or memorabilia that is autographed that i could perhaps accquire. it would meanthe world to me.

Atmosphere at all games this season, home and away, has been superb. Best since the early seventies.
