Lukey Moore Extends Villa Stay

Aston Villa have announced that they have taken up the one-year option on striker Luke Moore.

Luke is now contracted to Villa until June 2009. Plenty of time for him to really burst onto the scene and prove himself.

The official site says he has made 40 starts and 93 appearances with 15 goals.

Good news, he is only 21 and has proved he can score, just he isn't on top form right now.

Pleased about that. Now Luke needs to up his game and earn a new extended contract.

Great news, but he needs to push on now and not become "just" a squad player.
godzvilla
Have you all been watching him ??? I think he has been very poor all season, cant even think of one game he was any good in !!!! I doubt Lukes future is at Villa Park to be honest, I think the championship beckons, at least we get some money for him in the summer this way : )
Bearvill
Personally I think he's lucky to get the extension so I hope he takes a lead from Gabby and starts to fulfill his potential, which he undoubtedly has. It is rumoured MON is looking for another striker in January so Luke would be about 4th or 5th choice so he really needs to step it up a bit.

Erm, the poll looks a bit funny: 60% villa win. 30% draw, 0% lose? 10% decided that the game would be cancelled and have a pools panel decision, did they?
lorenzo
i think luke after being injured is not the same player, maybe its just confidence, hope so because its just not happening for him right now but least mon has the chance to see if he can come back in the first team before we get rid,,,the poll is rigged win 55 lose 0 draw 36 was it put together by the f a by any chance lol
claretandblue
Well now it's down to 4% going with the pools panel. At least the boffins at fear towers are getting bettre even if they've not quite got it right yet.
Villain Of The North
Not good enough, not premiership class and will be leaving in either Jan or the Summer. MON does not like his lazy attitude along with me, why cant he work like Gabbi?
KSarge1
Wonder if he'll be back in the squad on Saturday?
DeanoVilla
Device to either see him kick on or be kicked out at a fee
Gordonsleftboot
I think its good news, give him another season another chance, his got experience, if he works hard im sure he could do well. Up to him, Villa have give him the chance
krisvilla
I think we should be looking for better - i'd be happy if we got shot of Moore and Harewood in January or August and topped them up with a couple of decent Premiership-class replacements....no Crouch please, but i'd take Bent if he's on a half price want-away-deal!
YatesyVillain
Wasn't convinced by Bent in the summer and am even less so now. I think we need to cast the net a bit farther afield.

This contract extension is simply a way to drive up his value when he is inevitably sold. Notice that there have been no quotes from Moore about the deal. Taking up the option to extend has now positioned Villa to receive a decent fee. Southgate was after him last summer - he's an expert at selling good forwards and replacing them with reserves..... Interestingly, the Middlesboro away game was the last time he was in the 16. Maybe Martin caught him "having a chat" with Gareth??

Have to respectfully disagree with the article stating "Plenty of time for him to really burst onto the scene and prove himself." He "burst onto the scene" as an 18 year-old and was tipped for greatness. Three years later he's still the same player. I love home-grown talent, but despise laziness. If he had been brought in from anywhere else I have a feeling that our fans would not be so patient......
gmvillan
Not what Luke would have been looking for. Hardly a vote of faith by MON and the club as to his chances of having a long term Villa Park future. The ball's in Luke's court. He cannot live too much longer on this promising youngster tag, he needs to start producing on a regular basis.
