FA Cup Shambles? 24 or 25?

I was rubbish at maths as I was far too interested in talking to the ever lovely Lucy and my mates at the back of the class.

However, even with my poor mathematical prowess, I know that the number twenty four looks like this:

24

It is quite easy, you just put a 2 and a 4 side by side.

I can further dazzle you by explaining with 25 you just go put a 2 and a 5 next to each other.

So why when the FA held the draw for the FA Cup did they say that we were drawn against Number 24, Manchester United as opposed to the number 25 ball that Sammy Nelson was clearing holding up which would have seen us playing Middlesbrough at home?

You'll also notice from the clip below, that Sammy looks like he knew he'd made a mistake and covered the second ball drawn out (25) up slightly.

And why are they still denying the mistake?

Here is the you tube clip to prove the point.

Then you get the BBC Editors blog saying there was no mistake at all: BBC Blog

Spoof or cover up? You decide!

As for me, I don't care, we are going to win anyway, I've made up my mind!

Thats ****nal for you.

Not really bothered myself but there is a principle here and the fixtures should be changed overwise why bother with a draw? Why doesn't Terry Brooking just make up the ties and save money on the draw? Another 'balls up' by the FA?
Gordonsleftboot
I'd rather get Man utd out the way.
villabikes29
Wonder what Bristol City's reaction would be if they knew? Can't be happy missing out on a home draw against Manure
Gordonsleftboot
good point Gordonsleftboot! I actually hope the FA can come out with clear proof that the draw was correct, will stop the round being overshadowed!
TonyBlue
I'd much prefer Middlesbore to Man U as it would be a lot easier, but we're bound to beat Man Utd eventually. Although I'd prefer 3 points off them in the league!
lukemarson
Let's beat the crap out of them and then say something official about it. I totally think we can beat them!
gwyllum18
They oicked Villa to play Manure because they want them out of the cup and Villa will do it.
col8
the fa at the centre of a scandal and they dont know what their doing? SHOCK
Stig
I demand a re-draw! oh feck it we'll concentrate on the league instead.

It looks like 24 after reading that blog, I dont think even an ex footballer can be that stupid to read out a number wrong. If it was jason mcateer I would of questioned it!
krisvilla
The Genral says Phil Mepham and Richard FitzGerald are dealing with the issue at the moment.
The Fear
I dont quite know what to think or believe, suffice to say that we'll be at home to Manchester United in round three whether we like it or not. I tend to take col8's positive approach-We're gonna dump Sir's lot out of the competition, so what does a rigged draw matter?
glensider
anyone know what the odds are for a villa man u third round draw for 2008? Im putting my money on it! surely cant happen again!
krisvilla
must say I never noticed!
merlin
Well you wouldn't have done merlin, but you would have done had you been dubiously paired with Man Utd.
