Carson Showing Great Charachter

Martin O'Neill has praised on-loan keeper Scott Carson for showing great character in the wake of his England disaster.

In the 483rd comment regarding the post-international reaction of the Liverpool stopper, O'Neill admitted that he has been impressed with the way that Carson has reacted, and believes that the Claret & Blue faithful have had a big say in that.

'Carson has been doing very well for us,' O'Neill told avfc.co.uk.

'We are very pleased with him. He came through that period of a week or so, and that period may continue on. He has had a very tough time for one so relatively young.'

'In the games he have played since he has had a big, vociferous support behind the goals behind him in both away games, and then he was given great encouragement by the reaction of the fans at Villa Park at the weekend.'

One wonders if Scott wants to be constantly remembered of his bouncebackability following the Euro qualifier disaster, or if he'd much prefer to get on with the job in hand for the future.

He's done well since that howler. Although he's going to have to put up with jeers and boos for the rest of the season now so he has to keep coping well!

He certainly hasn't let us down, far from it. His assured displays have been an integral part of our improved performances this season.

It was a helluva howler, but fortunately the lad has time on his side. I blame it more on McLaren for throwing him into the mix for such a key game anyway (James should have started). If you can sign him, you could do much much worse.

Despite that Wembley faux pas, I think that we're likely to find competition for his signature. At least we are in the driving seat, added to the fact that he seems to be enjoying his time at Villa Park. Good young keeper, far from the finished article, but definitely a player I'd love to see us sign.
