Harewood Ready for a Fight

Marlon Harewood has vowed to continue pushing for his first team opportunities following his first league goal for Villa last week.

Harewood has made just 6 appearances in a claret and blue shirt since his move from West Ham, largely ignored for the shining talent that is Luke “shrugger” Moore. This hasn’t however effected Marlon, who has admitted he is more determined to do his best for the club, be it first team or for the reserves.

Speaking to avfc.co.uk the striker said: 'It's all about taking my chances. That's the same for any striker - or any player really. If you haven't been in the frame for a few weeks and suddenly you're thrown back in, you have to go out there and do your best to stay in there.

'If you're doing well and the manager's watching, he'll chuck you in and give you a chance to show what you can do.'

Good on you Marlon, you’re my hero!

RE: the title. He does look more like a boxer and gutted after reading further that he hasn't given up football to change careers.

He's already had a fight with Gabby. Wonder who's next? Hopefully Carew, :)

Credit to him most pros would have given up by now and be looking for a way out hope he gets his chance and shows us all wrong.

I admire his attitude. Sadly I think that he's fighting something of a lost cause. He was ridiculed by many from day one, certainly not the ideal way to begin life at a new club, but he appears to have never thrown in the towel.

He needs a decent run of first team action, but he's never going to get that. Even when MON had the opportunity to let him loose, he decided against it, and its hard to imagine Marlon playing anything but a bit part role between now and seasons end-if indeed he's still with us beyond January.
