OH NO - Transfer Talk!

Oh blimey, it is that time again when the players and club start talking about transfers.

I'm not sure our hearts will be able to stand the pressure are you?

I'll put the transfer window sticky thread at the top of the front page next week so we can all get stuck in with the rumours and debates as well. The summer one saw about 100 million rumours, sadly none of them coming true!

Anyway, as is my want, I digress. Villa skipper Gareth Barry is excited as he believes Martin O'Neill will bolster the squad.

'I'm sure the manager realises that. It doesn't take a lot of working out ? a few injuries and suspensions and we will be a bit short. January will be interesting, I am sure the manager has got a few things lined up. It is a long season even if we're not in Europe so hopefully a few will come in in January. The players have not been getting too carried away although it's sometimes hard not to when you've got three away fixtures in a row and you win them all. We have to try and aim for the top four. It's a big aim. If we fall short, the top six would be great.'

Spurs striker Darren Bent was the latest player to be linked to Villa last weekend. Would rather see us linked to Nicolas Anelka myself, he'd fire us into Europe no mistake!

Can't see Anelka coming to us really however I would love to see Darren Bent or Peter Crouch to add to our (sort of) english squad.
Carew and Crouch as a partnership? cant see that one working myself but then i'm not a football manager....i think Bent would be a good addition but Spurs (crap could'nt even beat the scutters) would surely have to take a massive loss on their original things for sure we will be making purchases...
bent or crouch would be very good indeed!
Mellberg, Maloney and Moore out. Milner, a right back and a striker coming in.
Dare I disagree with Anelka? My reason for this is, MON always looks at the player's character first (and rightly so) before their ability. I just don't feel Anelka would fit the bill when it comes to having the right character. However, I do believe Bent would fit the bill!
Good point NnR. Mon does look at how their personality fits into the team, and seems to have rejected players because they he feels they won't Harewood is the exception - apparently - that proves he rule. Hope you are right tarzan - like Milner.
villabikes2 why cant you see anelka coming to the villa do you reckon bolton are a bigger club...dont think so,he will come to who ever pays the better wages...go on mon ,you know you want to put in that offer he cannot refuse and lets go for the top 4 and villa park will be bursting at the rafters i.e money back of the larger gates.
we need a right back a midfielder and a striker but we would still be short of cover if we want to get up there with the so called top 4
A right back a right winger and a forward and we would be set for an assault on Europe!
Let's go get Dean Ashton from West Ham before he hits form again....flog off Marlon to Fulham or Middlesborough.....
Bugger it we're loaded how about Bent AND Crouch!! We can then get rid of Marlene and (regrettably) Luke Moore might be on his way out too.
I would still like to see Defoe, Laursen and Mellberg have to be offered new contracts.
Hmmmm, to be honest i would like to see Moore have another go with Carew upfront with Gabby on the right wing to replace Petrov for 2 weeks. Anyway wouldnt like to see us spend over 10m for Bent, and we are reported to be in for Sidwell, that porto right back, and Defoe again. I would like to see us go back in for Milner to be honest, and we need someone like Riise as well, who can shoot long distence and score quite afew, it also allows our strikers to get onto the rebound. It's the only thing we miss really, maybe we could get Ronaldinho lmao, MiddlesVilla have offered 10m for him, and his wages are high but surely we would gain all the cash back and alot more from sponsers, and selling alot more kits world wide, look when Madrid brought Beckham, they earnt all their money back before he even set foot on the pitch... Would love to see him play for Villa even though we all know it wont happen and is probably scared of the premiership how normal we would make him look.

Cant understand this cry for a Peter Crouch return. The suggestion just leaves me somewhat cold. Dont think he's what we want or need, and I certainly dont think that he'll improve our team/squad. Dont think that theres any truth in that Boswinga talk either, although I do hope a top quality right full back is well and truly in MON's sights. Guess at the end of the day we'll get who we get. We didn't do too badly last January, more of the same would suffice.
Riise or Matt Taylor on the left with Young moving to the right. Alternatively I think Milner is out of sorts with Big sam and might be worth a punt. I noted on Saturday that MON played Maloney up front rather than on the wing. Is that because Malonet ain't up to it or he still fancies Gabby as a winger, which he aint. A forward, RB (Hoyte, Boswinga or the other Arsenal lad) and possibly Dica in the middle.
Milner/Sidwell on the right, with Hoyte at RB, With Anelka/Defoe coming in, or Riise on the left with Young moving to the right with Hoyte RB and same again Defoe/Anelka upfront. But we really need a long distence shooter like Gerrard, We did have Hitzlsperger ages ago that could hit a smacker !! But we have no one now, Riise has one hell of a shot on him though...
Villa 4 Ever
Ronaldinho to Villa? Behave yourself. Let's get Olly and Laursen tied down eh.
Heh, Well we would gain alot of cash from him, it will put Villa more on the map, he is 27, out of favor, his price has rocketed down, Middlesvilla bid 10m and no one else is interested--------Would have a point to prove in the Premiership and would make our Midfield as good as any in the premiership, just give the lad what ever wage he wants 140k a week what ever, we will gain it all back and double, just like Beckham when he went to Real. Never know he might come (wishes)
