OH NO - Transfer Talk!

OH NO - Transfer Talk!

Oh blimey, it is that time again when the players and club start talking about transfers.

I'm not sure our hearts will be able to stand the pressure are you?

I'll put the transfer window sticky thread at the top of the front page next week so we can all get stuck in with the rumours and debates as well. The summer one saw about 100 million rumours, sadly none of them coming true!

Anyway, as is my want, I digress. Villa skipper Gareth Barry is excited as he believes Martin O'Neill will bolster the squad.

'I'm sure the manager realises that. It doesn't take a lot of working out ? a few injuries and suspensions and we will be a bit short. January will be interesting, I am sure the manager has got a few things lined up. It is a long season even if we're not in Europe so hopefully a few will come in in January. The players have not been getting too carried away although it's sometimes hard not to when you've got three away fixtures in a row and you win them all. We have to try and aim for the top four. It's a big aim. If we fall short, the top six would be great.'

Spurs striker Darren Bent was the latest player to be linked to Villa last weekend. Would rather see us linked to Nicolas Anelka myself, he'd fire us into Europe no mistake!

Can't see Anelka coming to us really however I would love to see Darren Bent or Peter Crouch to add to our (sort of) english squad.

Carew and Crouch as a partnership? cant see that one working myself but then i'm not a football manager....i think Bent would be a good addition but Spurs (crap could'nt even beat the scutters) would surely have to take a massive loss on their original outlay....one things for sure we will be making purchases...

Mellberg, Maloney and Moore out. Milner, a right back and a striker coming in.

Dare I disagree with Anelka? My reason for this is, MON always looks at the player's character first (and rightly so) before their ability. I just don't feel Anelka would fit the bill when it comes to having the right character. However, I do believe Bent would fit the bill!

Good point NnR. Mon does look at how their personality fits into the team, and seems to have rejected players because they he feels they won't Harewood is the exception - apparently - that proves he rule. Hope you are right tarzan - like Milner.

we need a right back a midfielder and a striker but we would still be short of cover if we want to get up there with the so called top 4

A right back a right winger and a forward and we would be set for an assault on Europe!
