Villa Skipper A Winner

Phew!

Got an email last week from my friend June asking me why I'd not publicised the Midlands Sports Personality of the Year awards as Gareth Barry was nominated.

Luckily (well, not luckily, quite justifiably) he won the Midlands Footballer of the Year on the BBC Midlands Today programme so hopefully that will go some way to gain your forgiveness June!

However he missed out on the top award, the BBC Midlands Personality of the Year award, (went to speedway star Chris 'Bomber' Harris) so I'm probably still due some wrath from my friend.

Shame we didn't all see this, especially the official site, as I'm sure we'd all have voted, nevertheless, well done to Barry, a more than deserved reward for his outstanding contributions to Villa.

A well deserved winner, if ever there was one. Mr Consistency, so instrumental in the re-birth of the claret and blues. Well Done Gareth.

Wasn't really much competition was there?

Agreed Deano. A very sad but true summing up of the state of Midlands football as a whole, and the lack of true talent outside of Brummagem B6.
