Supporters’ Consultancy Group - Saturday 1st December 2007

The fourth SCG meeting is scheduled to take place on Saturday 1st December, prior to the Arsenal match.

The meeting comprises of

· Five representatives from official supporters clubs

· Five representatives from message boards / independent groups/ fanzines

· Five representatives from individual supporters who have registered their interest via Voice in the Crowd.

As with the previous meetings, each representative will be asked to bring with them their top three questions, ideas or suggestions.

I believe I have someone to represent Vital (if chosen to be in attendance as it is done via a ballot) but if you'd like to throw your name into the hat in case (or for future ones) send me an email to

(This meeting is at 2.00pm and will be held in the Houghton Suite (above the Holte Suite and accessed via the main Holte Suite entrance)

All that said, what we need is 3 questions, suggestions or ideas. So post away in the forum or article comments and I'll get them compiled for whoever does represent the site. IF we don't get picked this time, I'll put the suggestions forward at the next one. I must admit one of my suggestions might well be not to give such late notice of these meetings!

What are Villa looking to do regarding certain players contracts. namley Laursen/Mellberg

when are the stewards going to get jackets with the right crest having them walk round with the old one this far into the season is bloody silly and looks amateurish
26/11/2007 17:57:00
Will Villa ever scout from abroad to find any flair players? and can someone help MON buy players as it takes an eternity the way he does it
26/11/2007 18:41:00
Great point Shortyshaduk, it does take some time. We must tie up Laursen, Olly and make permanent Scotty, please!!!

Good to see that these meetings continue. They were long overdue when introduced, and have to be very beneficial for all concerned.

When is the speaker system getting sorted? Why is it 'invite' only in to the Holte Pub? Why don't they just have people on the door who detemine who gets in, who doesn't and when it is full? Some good sineage going up arouind Villa Park but why is their nothing on the back of the Holte End which is the most visible of all the stands? Why don't we have a survey of potential 'anthems', have them made and put online for a poll. These can then be used both pre and post match. Every live game on TV is the biggest advertisement you will ever get for the club. More should/could be done to make the most of tv coverage. The scarf giveaway is a great example and similar events to that should be encouraged. The General said that he would make available car stickers to all fans. This was via distribution in the local press, hand outs as you enter Villa Park, free crest sticker with every purchase of goods or tickets for the club. This would soon have the effect of the Villa badge advertising the club and its support 24/7 both locally and further afield. When is it happening? Can the club make polite requests for supporters not to leave early? Not only does it look terrible, it must send a very poor message to the team. Also it is a pain in the backside, as part time supporters continually force you to get up and down in your seat as they turn their backs on the players to get out of the ground, just as the game is often reaching its most important and enjoyable stage. The General was also overseeing some huge flags to be passed amongst the fans prior to home games. When will these be ready?

what is gonna be done about the situation when the blues come to villa and will there be some sort of punishment for what they did to our fans , i dont wanna see them rollover and say let the players do the talking as an example needs to be set.

Has any deicision been made on ticket prices for next season? I hope just because attendances are back up the board dont see this as an excuse to hike the prices. Better to keep the fans coming by freezing prices again.

Voiceoftheholte- some good ideas there. I just have two comments to add - 1.In my experience, stewards instruct fans to leave immediately after the final whistle. You're made to feel as though you are trespassing! A half-hour 'warm-down' for us fans, perhaps also being able to buy a drink, would allow us to leave with less stress as opposed to leaving ten minutes before the end to beat the crush. 2. Does anyone know whether General Krulak has ever implemented any suggestions made by fans on either this site or Villa Talk's site? If so, I'd be interested to learn what. I've written to him personally on two occasions and both letters have been completely ignored. Even Doug Ellis or his secretary always replied, even if only to say "thanks, but no thanks". But apparently The General thinks differently.
