Villa Job Far From Complete

Martin O'Neill has explained why he has decided to stay at Villa despite intense press speculation linking him with the England job.

The Villa boss said, 'This job is far from complete and may never be completed. I feel as if I'm just starting out in it and we're getting things together. We're getting a young side starting to gel and, more importantly than that, Villa supporters have come out in big numbers to support us.' (4th best attendance in our history)

He doesn't claim praise for the attendance but did add 'All I am saying is I have got all those things to consider and I have considered them. I want to do this job and that really should end it. I am committed here to this job at Aston Villa and I love the job.'

'This is where I want to do my job and I want to try and do something proper for Aston Villa.'

Right so categorically he isn't interested in the poison challice of the England job.

Trouble is he then said, for a joke: 'I think I'd be brilliant! My ego thinks I'd be brilliant. Actually the rest of me thinks I'd do it brilliantly! I didn't do to well to be perfectly honest at the interview I had - so I don't need to worry about polishing up interview skills.'

Which according to some of the press leaves the door slightly ajar. I think they are mad. If this man says he is or isn't doing something, then he sticks to it.

yeah, one not played, one subbed when Gerrard should have come off and the other, as my dad told me, when doing badly plays for Liverpool, when doing well plays for us!!!!!!!!!!

Zat on MON: "The manager's done well and been successful everywhere he's gone without spending that much money so it's no surprise he's linked with the top job. "But he told the players he wants to stay; he's trying to build something. Hearing that was a great boost; it gives us more togetherness. "It's going well here and if he'd left and someone else came in it would have been tough - particularly for me as he signed me." Knight added: "He's trying to build a young squad here that can grow together, and things are looking good. There's a lot of belief in the squad and the manager has belief in us. "He tells us to go out to enjoy the game. When we're not playing well he shouts at us. I wouldn't say he's intimidating but he knows how to get his point across. There are no tea cups thrown though."

I got the impression from his press confrence that if he gets offered the job he'll take it,did anyone notice that when he was asked if would take the job he the then spoke for nearly 3 minutes without saying no.Then when asked ''is that a no then'' he was lost for words.

He didn't categorically say no,it was the one word he didn't use.He also kept saying when he took over Villa there was no obstical in the way,what does that mean?
