Randy - MON Is Best Manager Around

Randy Lerner has been talking to the press and says he hopes to keep Martin O'Neill at Villa saying he can 'accomplish anything he wants' whilst at Villa and that he doesn't need to move on to fulfil his dreams.

Some reports claim that the FA will sack Steven McClaren and approach MON even if England qualify for the Euro Championship on Wednesday but Randy is hoping that MON will want to remain a Villan.

Randy said: 'He is special. We have the best manager around, I do believe that. But as Martin settles into this over the years, I think he can accomplish anything he wants to here. And, my God, I do mean 'here'. I don't think the Martin O'Neill's of the world are ever available. Ever. Somehow the fates have to conspire. The worst thing in the world would be to set out and try to get a Martin O'Neill, because you would never get him.'

He also says they get on very well with a 'comfortable relationship'. Adding he isn't all football either, 'He is a serious guy, he is a serious family man, he is a well-liked guy. He has got friends all over the world.'

He also says he gives the manager the space needed to manage, adding he doesn't feel it is his place to be phoning MON all the time.

With this sort of backing, would MON really want the England job? Maybe if he was English it would be a major tempter, but is the England job that glamorous a job these days? All managers seem to get is a total slating in the press!!

MON has won what exactly...??Unlike Juande Ramos.........Y I D S
chalky76
I want to see some Signings in Jan, starting with a RB and get Mellberg and Laursen on an extended contract, Mellberg and Laursen in the middle is the way to go for the next couple of years with someone like Hoyte on the right and Riise/Bouma on the left. We also need a striker, Anelka maybe. Atm i rate MON highly apart from in the transfer market.
Villa 4 Ever
Martin O'Neill has won two English league cups, three SPL league titles, three scottish cups and one scottish league cup. He also won seven consecutive old firm derbies. UTV
UpTheHolte
* in his managerial career
UpTheHolte
Oh he also won a Eurpean Cup as a player, something Villa have also done in funnily enough
fatloser
Chalky, if you were a player would respect more a manager who as a player won, a domestic cup, a league title, two European cups, and captained his country to a world cup final , or a manager who hadn't?.....you M U P P E T
OneloveVilla
Sorry meant to read European and missed out in "the past" oops!

randy.stand my good buddy, you only write articles like this, knowing that they will meet with my complete approval, and hopefully earn you another coke!!

UpTheHolte-Dont give me that Scottish Lge zhit,if the guy had achieved that with Hibs/Aberdeen etc then i would be impressed.......So lets get this right,MON has won just the league cup in England & never lifted a side into the top 6.....??Sounds like McClaren..........He he he...!!
chalky76
Chalky if we win our game in hand we will be top six and already played everyone above us bar the north London team that you are always crawling around in the shadows of. Ramos looks good but he can't come on the pitch and defend for you. Ashley Young would rather play for MON than get paid double down south, still bitter?
Villan444
MON has won what exactly....? Erm.... Pretty much everything he's entered his entire life. Please can someone tell me why a Spurs fan is the first to post on a new thread on a Villa website? Had enough of reading about how your predicted season of success is dead in the water before Christmas?
Adam Deuce
Villan444-Get real,you cant even do Leicester....!!Top 6 LMAO
chalky76
Chalky does have alot of time on his hands today,he's been very quiet for a few months I wonder why.
Pking
Try coming on here and bigging it up when you finally crawl out of the bottom 6 Chalky...ha ha....LMAO!

Good to read Randy speaking out regarding Martin, must be music to MON's ears too. Yes, we're on the march we're Martins army.

Players respect managers that were great players and have won major honours i.e the Eropean Cup TWICE! maybe you could get one of your former players who's been as successful as MON as manager oh ***** i forgot! have you won the european cup?
*Holte*End*Star*
So will MON manage to get you in the top half this season..??ROFL
chalky76
HolteEndStar-MON was never a "great" player & even if you were a great player it doesnt mean you"ll cut it in the dugout (look at Hoddle,Ardiles who were great players). In fact you could say the best managers were nothing in their playing days (weger, mourihno etc)
chalky76
chalky76 seriously chap, all you are doing is showing your own ignorance and a distinct lack of knowledge regarding not only MON but also your own manager, who did ok at sevilla after inheriting a decent team. But please come back if and when you have something even remotely interesting to say, we are quite charitable towards those less fortunate than ourselves.
steff_the_villan
chalky - when MON won his two carling cups in four years at leicester he did it having spent a fraction of the amount your board has in the last 5 years. So the question should be - why are spurs so ****, considering their resources?
The Usual Suspect
And chalky - we are in the top half. Whereabouts are you?
The Usual Suspect
Incredible how any Spurs fans have got the cheek to take the ***** at the moment with what is happening at their club! Top 4 my arse!
DeanoVilla
Spuz fans seem to know that they can't compete or argue with anyone in London so they are trying to move further north. Wrong side of town Chalky, you might have more success on the vital bluenose site but then again you are only ahead of them on goal difference !!LOL
Villan444
Ever get the feeling that MON is hoping one day to get promoted to the position of coach for the Cleveland Browns?
