Carson 'O'Neill Is Different Class'

Carson 'O'Neill Is Different Class'

Reports today are suggesting that Scott Carson is also a target for Tottenham Hotspur who, it is widely believed, are willing to offload Paul Robinson following a series of disastrous mistakes.

I don't know whether there is any substance to the claim that Spurs want him and that Carson will snub them in favour of Villa as the quotes from the keeper don't mention the rumours, however they do show the high esteem Martin O'Neill is held in by the highly rated shot stopped.

Carson said: 'Martin O'Neill has been different class since I have been at Aston Villa. He has helped bring a new level of confidence to my game. When I got sent off against Manchester United in September he stuck with me when he didn't have to. That really lifted my spirits and helped my confidence grow.'

Adding, 'It really made a big difference and hopefully I can repay him. He has loads of enthusiasm which he passes along to his players and you can see that by the way we have been playing in the past few weeks.'

Certainly some great positivity coming from the players towards the Villa boss. Lets hope Carson becomes a regular for England and that Martin O'Neill doesn't!

That rumour has been denied by the player himself chalky76. He said that there was absolutely no truth in it. As for Scott Carson, we definitely need to dot the i's and cross the t's in January. Lets get the deal done and dusted. Scott is not the finished article, but he's arguably the best young keeper in the game. Even if Tottenham are sniffing around, we are in pole position to wrap things up, and Scott himself seems more than happy here at Villa Park.

I'm with you EvertonMike on all of them except Carson! I don't think Crouch or Riise would add anything too different from what we've already got. Also, they've both been pretty *****e this season!

Nice to see a player brown nose the boss but the reality is after the ban for been sent off Carson was the only choice to get back between the sticks, Taylor did well in his cameo role.
