Carson 'O'Neill Is Different Class'

Reports today are suggesting that Scott Carson is also a target for Tottenham Hotspur who, it is widely believed, are willing to offload Paul Robinson following a series of disastrous mistakes.

I don't know whether there is any substance to the claim that Spurs want him and that Carson will snub them in favour of Villa as the quotes from the keeper don't mention the rumours, however they do show the high esteem Martin O'Neill is held in by the highly rated shot stopped.

Carson said: 'Martin O'Neill has been different class since I have been at Aston Villa. He has helped bring a new level of confidence to my game. When I got sent off against Manchester United in September he stuck with me when he didn't have to. That really lifted my spirits and helped my confidence grow.'

Adding, 'It really made a big difference and hopefully I can repay him. He has loads of enthusiasm which he passes along to his players and you can see that by the way we have been playing in the past few weeks.'

Certainly some great positivity coming from the players towards the Villa boss. Lets hope Carson becomes a regular for England and that Martin O'Neill doesn't!

We have to sign him in Jan before spurs get their hands on him. Oh ye saw in todays independent that we going for a 20million swoop for carson and crouch.

When MoN takes the England job Carson wont want to join.

Come on the Israel! Being Irish Ive this is the first time Ive ever wanted England to qualify,I hope Im not a bad omen.

Did anyone else hear Alan Green on 5live say that Risse is going to join Villa in January,he said its the worst kept rumour in football..??Chalky THFC

That rumour has been denied by the player himself chalky76. He said that there was absolutely no truth in it. As for Scott Carson, we definitely need to dot the i's and cross the t's in January. Lets get the deal done and dusted. Scott is not the finished article, but he's arguably the best young keeper in the game. Even if Tottenham are sniffing around, we are in pole position to wrap things up, and Scott himself seems more than happy here at Villa Park.

Anyway chalky 76 can i thank you for stealing Robinson off us, what could of been!

risse, crouch, carson? Are you trying to be a liverpool reserve team? their first team is bad enough....
EvertonMike
I'm with you EvertonMike on all of them except Carson! I don't think Crouch or Riise would add anything too different from what we've already got. Also, they've both been pretty *****e this season!
Rawlie
Come on EvertonMike, we all know which team is Liverpool reserves!!!
Hoss The Villain
Nice to see a player brown nose the boss but the reality is after the ban for been sent off Carson was the only choice to get back between the sticks, Taylor did well in his cameo role.

Carson deserves a run in the England squad and is a much better keeper than Robinson. Why would he want to join spurs?
dazza71
Didnt Bardlsey say the same thing during his loan with us? Glad he went back on the first train to Manchester he was crap anyway!
son_of_cher
Different class? Yes, Remedial Transfer Markets 101. Sorry, someone had to do it...

25m for Crouch, Carson and Riise :D but to be honest i would prefer Anelka any day of the week even if he is french.
Villa 4 Ever
Heard a rumour today that Villa will try to make this deal permanant as soon as January. Would certainly be a good move.
DeanoVilla
Maybe and he can score goals, wouldn't want us to pay more than 10m and will always hate DOL for selling him for stop and even more when he sold him without any sell on clause
Villa 4 Ever
Let's hope MON stays and Carson is signed, because I've got bad vibes
fatloser
Rumour has also suggested Deano that Liverpool will not be active in the transfer market during January, incoming or outgoing.
