Gareth Barry Interview (AUDIO)

With a nerve-wracking week ahead for the England national team, Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry discusses the mood in the England camp ahead of the trip to Austria in Friday night's friendly.

But he admits all eyes will be on Tel-Aviv as the nation prays Israel avoid defeat against Russia, which would hand the chance for qualification back to Steve McClaren's side.

In this extensive interview, Barry, who starred in midfield in England's last 4 qualifiers, discusses his own feelings on the week ahead and his future at both club and country.

It's ridiculous that England have to rely on Israel to do us a favour. Perfetic. Isn't exactly the hardest group in the world now is it....
Real Deal
What a level headed, down to earth young man our Gareth is. Nothing arrogant or over the top about him. A credit to the game, and to the club side he captains. Good luck to him while away on international duty.

Yossi Benayoun is out for Israel! Oh bugger!
DeanoVilla
We shouldn't have to rely on others, think we are buggered and I'm afraid we need a new manager, I also think the clamour for MON might be too strong this time, would be nice to have a comment from him if he isn't interested so the press can stop linking him.
The Fear
Oh, I do realise it is difficult for him to comment on someone elses job by the way!?!??!
The Fear
Of course were buggered, doent deserve to qualify, poor home games that cost us.
will it ever happen
I dont know. While I dont think we deserve to qualify, I still think that Israel have enough about them to get at least a draw against Russia. Whatever happens though, I think that we'll be saddled with Mcclaren until 2010.
