Best Villa Keeper Of Last 25 Years?

Vital Villa asked, in a poll suggested by Young_Jonah, who is the best Aston Villa keeper of the last 25 years.

Mark Bosnich won with 42%. Have to say he was a great keeper before he disappeared up his own backside, he never was the same after leaving Villa. His major flaw was his kicking which was about as good as a 3 year old girls!! Oh, and the massive ego he had to carry around with him naturally.

The older members have certainly been voting on this poll as Jimmy Rimmer with 30% and Nigel Spink (who can forget his sub appearance in 'that' game?!) with 17% were next up.

That left Scott Carson with 5%. To be fair if it had been my poll I'd have been tempted to not have Scott in as he has only just arrived, hopefully in time he'll become a Villa legend, that is if he gets his wish and does move permanently to Villa from Liverpool.

David James only polled 3% which is a bit of a shock. I know he had his calamity moments - often highlighted unfairly in the press - but he was a superb keeper and probably deserves a bit more credit for his career than he gets.

That left:

Thomas Sorenson (1%) Bit harsh on the Denmark international I think?
Stuart Taylor (1%)
Gabor Kiraly (1%)
Other (0%)
Stefan Postma (0%)
Kevin Poole (0%)
Michael Oakes (0%)
Peter Enkleman (0%)

WTF has happened to Loony Les? Gone but not forgotten....RIP Mr Angry. Also, you seem to have ommitted the greatest goalkeeper in the world during those past 25 years (although he was ***** for us) - Schmeical.
BEEFY
speak to the young_jonah cause the fear ain't listening!!!!!!! ;-p
The Fear
You do the Ozzie Bozzie and you turn around, thats what its all about! We must have sounded so camp singing that! lol

come on, who voted for kiraly???
ric112
What was wrong with Kiraly? thought he was magnificent!!! :)
will it ever happen
Bosnich, what a waste of a talent! Was very good at saving penalties from what I can remember!!
Real Deal
Bosnich was world class. From the start of the 95/96 season to around 99 he was the best in the world, even better than red nose Peter. That's my opinion anyway.

The omission of Schmeichel is abit of a clanger, still think it would have been a three house race though - Spink, Rimmer and Bozzie
young_jonah
I loved Bozzie when I was a lad, but come on, he's not fit to clean Spinksy's boots!
IanSymes
Named my cat Bozzie. He died of liver failure at age 6. Says it all really.....

Rimmer was simply unbeatable for three or four years, and the fact that he was responsible for so many game-winning saves in 80-81 has to put him at number one. And who can forget the double-penalty-save in the European Cup?
gmvillan
I went with Jimmy Rimmer. Cool, calm, and collected under pressure, just like wot I am. Out of the 25 year radius, a special mention for Colin 'Tiny' Withers.

I always remember watching the European Cup Final when Spinks came on and played brilliantly. He was always a good steady keeper over many years.

Bosnich was class when he came to Chelsea then he got mixed up in all that crap - what a waste of a top talent!
merlin
Carson has the potential to be a world beater but whether he will realise it is a different matter.
villabikes29
I mentioned Colin Withers in my earlier posting. For what its worth (not too much I know), I was speaking to a customer today who told me that he stayed at Tiny's b+b up in Blackpool some ten-fifteen years ago. Seems Colin opened up a bed and breakfast after leaving football.
