Curtis Davies Having To Bide Time

In a report by Lisa Smith in the Birmingham Post on loan defender Curtis Davies has spoken of his frustrations since joining Villa and his experience of warming the bench.

The England U21 defender, who is on loan from West Bromwich Albion with a permanent deal at the end of the season, said

'It has been frustrating - I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to pretend I'm delighted with the situation but it is one of those things you have to deal with in football.'

Davies has been shut out by ever present Martin Laursen and former Fulham defender Zat Knight. Davies says it is just 'one of those things' that when he arrived he was injured.

'I can only do what I am doing and keep playing well in the reserves and training and hopefully I'll get the nod.'

Adding, 'It would be nice to make my first Premier League start in the derby,' he said. 'We had a behind-closed doors game with Blues the other day and Villa won 4-3. Blues put a strong team out but we did really well. If we play well, like we have been doing, I don't see why we can't win the game on Sunday.'

God I hope the result isn't 4-3 at the weekend, I don't think my heart would hold up to the strain!!!!

Sounds like a real honest character and hopefully a future first team regular, should get his chance soon just wait for knight to make a fatal error.

I would rather Knight played well and not wish an error on the lad. He has been doing really well and I hope his improvement will continue. Curtis will have to wait, however with a small squad it may not be too long.

Zat Knight is very average. Give Curtis a go!

His time will come, sooner rather than later. A quality youngster, highly rated by better judges than any of us who contribute on here.

Would be interested to know. We supposedly have Davies on loan, right? What happens if we don't end up playing him and we want to return him back to the Baggies? Is that possible??

Good question YatesyVillain. I dont think that this deal was ever as clear cut or set in stone as we were first led to believe. Nothing about the deal would surprise me.
