David Gold Wallows In The Mud

David Gold Wallows In The Mud

What an absolute delight David Gold must be. No wonder half the Blues fans can't tolerate the people that run their club.

Not content to let the matter lie after all his nonsense of reducing ticket prices only to rip off the Villa boys with a £45.00 ticket price for the local derby next Sunday, he now has once again blasted General Charles Krulak for his 'pig in mud' comments.

Randy Lerner said earlier in the week that the General had apologised for the misunderstanding but Gold, showing the sort of bad grace we all expect from him, told the Birmingham Mail

'To be honest, what this General wrote to me was not an apology but a load of waffle,'

Any more waffle that the crap he came out with about all clubs reducing ticket prices as if he was some holier than thou bastion of all things regarding football? I think not!

He added that he doesn't think Randy knows what is going on here and that he is disappointed that he didn't get an apology. Well boo bloody hoo.

He continued in the Mail 'In the first instance I felt he was outrageous, but he has tended to get away with it Scot free. And, to be perfectly frank, I am fuming even more after what Randy Lerner said to your newspaper. I am not saying that I should be sent 12 red roses. I just think this General was totally wrong to use me in that analogy and should have been big enough to realise that. Instead it's been like 'hey, it's okay, don't worry about it' and people have been portraying him in glowing terms.'

Maybe the General is spoken about in glowing terms because he doesn't say one thing and act totally opposite like ... hmmm, lets think, oh yes, YOU?

He also says he hopes that Randy can make it as he is 'looking forward to making his acquaintance. From what I have seen and heard, he is a decent chap and I like the way he has gone about things since he took over Villa. If General Krulak doesn't come then in a way I will be pleased but on the other hand I would like to confront him and talk to him face-to-face and tell him how I feel and that we are all in this together.'

And hilariously adds, 'I feel I have been an orchestrator of good relations and behaviour between our clubs over the last 15 years and then this guy comes from nowhere and insults me. I don't want there to be any bad blood between Birmingham City and Aston Villa but, in this instance, I feel aggrieved. I have been insulted and I don't deserve it. I will admit, if we beat Villa on Sunday I will derive extra pleasure from it.'

For Gods sake, how old are you? This is like going back to school! The General was spot on, you can't win with these sort of people. He can't even foster good relations with his own fans, let alone between Villa and blues, unless he means his sycophantic comments to Ellis some while back.

If I was Randy and the General I'd sit with the Villa fans, I'd certainly go nowhere near Gold and his band of unmerry men!

Just who the hell does this prize tosser think he is. The General said what he said because it needed saying, and the only reason Gold is so riled is that it hit home hard. The old, long held belief that the truth often hurts, has surely never been more appropriate than in this instance. Gold is a nobody. His connection to this great city of ours, thanks to his involvement with the second city's second football team, is an embarrassment to Brummies everywhere.

I hope the General makes a special trip over to sort this out 'face-to-face' as Gold wants it! Or 'fist-to-face' how the rest of us want it!

Once again, JP you have hit the nail right on the head. Now I know why Vital Villa is the first site I go to when I want to find out about my favourite team. Werll said, also, Glensider and Deano.

What amuses me is how the General's comment has become a self-fulfilling prophecy; Gold's been absolutely loving rolling around in the proverbial mud in an effort to muddy the General's reputation. Obviously this proves that the General is the new Nostradamus, we just need him to predict a 7-0 thrashing of the scum and we'll be set. :-D

Can't imagine the General ducking a fight can you? He's spent his live in facing tough issues and tougher men than Gold. I reckon a stare from the general will be good enough to see Gold off. I hope this will spur the lads on even more as the General has spoken of all Villa being family and family stick together. We can slag each other off but no one else is allowed to!!
