Laursen Player Of Match AGAIN!

Vital Villa asked for your player of the match votes for the Villa v Derby game.

The clear winner with 53% was Martin Laursen. With the opening goal and a clean sheet, it was a bit of a no brainer really!

Next up, came Stiliyan Petrov with 24%

That left:

Ashley Young (9%)
Scott Carson (6%)
Nigel Hokey-Cokey (2%)
Gareth Barry (1%)
Luke Moore (1%)
Gabby Agbonlahor (1%)
Wilfred Bouma (1%)
Olof Mellberg (1%)
Zat Knight (1%)

Our latest poll asks who is the best keeper of the last 25 years suggested by Young_Jonah. I was tempted to not put Scott Carson on as he has only just arrived but it was Young_Jonahs poll so I've left well alone!!!

The Fear
Bosnich was the best shot stopper until he went up his own backside. His kicking was very poor though! Rimmer was the first keeper I can remember and obviously Spink played in 'that' game so will always be a Villa great. Also think James was good for us and could never understand why we off loaded him so quickly, he was better than what was to follow surely?
The Fear
Easily Bosnich. Should have been a real world superstar but like so many got distracted by the money, limelight and chicks. Cant say I blame him :)
DeanoVilla
Mark Bosnich was the best shop stopper I have ever seen, and he was awesome at saving penalties, was a close call with Kiraly.
KSarge1
Yeah, Bosnich used to save a penalty a week. Glad we got the best out of him before he went to the Reds.
Villan444
Jimmy Rimmer. Reliable and consistent. Bosnich probably just shaded Spink for the runners up spot.

I wonder where Postma is now after his sex scnadel!?
son_of_cher
Postma? Sex Scandal? was that not Bosnich and Yorke?
KSarge1
david james isnt feauturing to well on the right in the poll..........
ernshaw
NO surprise to laursen top that poll again. Looking at the other pol i think james should get a better rating he is top quality even though prone to make mistakes
villabikes29
Yes, too many mistakes for my liking villabikes29. You couldn't rely on him, whereas Bosnich, Rimmer and Spink were pretty safe in the handling department.
glensider
Should we be mentioning Enkleman bearing in mind the game this weekend - bad Karma and all that!!!!!! Close between Spink and Bosnich - I'll have to have a think and maybe get some old videos out!!
CLVilla
My top keeper - Colin Withers - isn't even a choice on the poll. I can remember singing 'Withers for England' on the Holte and all over the country too. Happy days! :o)
BobTheBuilder
Colin Withers - forgot all about him. Someone will come up with a poll on centre halves soon and have to spell John Sleuwenhook or whatever it was.
Gordonsleftboot
Postma is back home! I was seeing his X last year! He got injured pretty much as soon as he got back! Oh, and his bed at his flat in Olton is fantastic (as seen in the video!)
leelindsay
Yes, I thought about Colin Withers BobTheBuilder, arguably the best thing to ever come out of St Andrews, and a superb Villa keeper. He was outside the 25 year time frame though, otherwise he would have been in the group and challenging. Tiny Withers, great 'keeper.
glensider
Jimmy Coombs was one of my fav's along with the late but great Les seally
morky13villa
Laursen should be treated like Paul McGod. We should give him a 3 year deal now and reduce his training.
morky13villa
What about John Burridge?
