Bolton Wanderers 1-0 Villa (HT)

Bolton Wanderers are leading Aston Villa 1-0 at half time.

Bolton have been on their uppers all half being first to most balls, stringing along decent passing moves and out fighting a very tame Villa.

Our major tactician has us playing 4 3 3 or is it 4 3 2 1? It doesn't really matter, there has hardly been a shot in anger all half for us with Shaun Maloney on 43 mins going the closest.

Assistant coach Steve Walford summed it up nicely as the camera panned onto him and he had his head in his hands.

Villa at the moment look shambolic against a Bolton team who have only managed one win all season.

Anelka scored for Bolton following a free kick given away by the helpless Zat Knight. Knight is a liability, he was average in an average Fulham side, so what the hell is he doing in a Villa side supposedly looking to push on and get into Europe?

Possession is 50/50 but the telling stat for Villa so far is not one shot on target.

Personally I'd have thought after over a year in charge the manager would have been able to stop this pathetic long ball football. One thing is for sure, he has to work some magic during the half time break as we cannot lose against struggling teams like this.

COME ON THE VILLA.

We were let off the hook today,we've been playing rubbish for a long time now.Im getting very worried we were all over the place at the back and Zat is a serious liability.

We have seriously got to rethink the way we approach away matches. Gabby up front on his own and a five man midfield that just doesn't gel will not be good enough. We need to win some away matches and our current approach is certain to fail.

That first half shambles was absolutely pitiful. Slight improvement second half, but that was nothing to shout home about. They were there for the taking, but we simply weren't anywhere near good enough. Worrying.

Anelka showed his class though. He's wasting his talents at The Reebok. Why?
